I've got a 1980 Honda CD200 Benly (6v) which doesn't leak oil at all when the engine is cold but when it's hot does. I can't see where it's coming from but it drips on to the side stand when it's down. It's driving me effing nuts - can anyone give me a clue as to the source?

It will be the seal on the primary drive shaft(behind the front sprocket)
or the gear change shaft seal.
It could also be from the neutral switch.

Take of the sprocket cover and clean in there then replace it.
Take the bike for a spin to worm it up then take the cover off to see
where the oil is coming from.

Great - thanks a lot for the advice.

Should have added I only bought the bike a yesterday and now reckon the oil level may be too high. But with no user manual (yet) and never having owned a Honda before, let alone of this vintage, I'm not sure how to confirm/deny this! Should the check be taken with the engine hot or cold, on the centre stand or on the sidestand and with the dipstick screwed in fully or just resting on the block?
