You've hurt your thumb. Ignore it for now and if it's really sore tomorrow go to the hospital. Tell them you hurt your thumb. If they offer you a prostate exam tell them no, you said thumb not bum.

Any ideas?

Go to hospital, ask them to look at it.

You think outside the box and come up with some radical solutions at times Tom.
Give hospital a shot, it may just work.

While you're there tell them you have a problem, with posting inane shite on forums.
It may involve them breaking your other fingers so you can't type but at least it'll take the pain away from your thumb.

It's a very common dry slope injury - hand down as you fall and then catch your thumb in the matting! Rolling Eyes I've done it on several occasions - had to get glove off quickly to stop it having to be cut off (that's the glove not my thumb!). My suggestion would be to man up and stop being such a big girl's blouse Mr. Green

Alternatively get a fancy thumb bandage, rest it up for a while along with sticking it in lots of ice Thumbs Up

I remember dislocating both thumbs at school many many moons ago. The games teacher just popped them back in, put some strapping on them and off I went to play footy again.

I bet it's fine. I get this all the time playing rugby and I've had it snowboarding once or twice too. You wrench your thumb back and it hurts like fuck. I always think it must be broken or something but it never is.

all i know is that i had to fit the new stuff. Snoflex. That stuff is lethal, and a fucking pain in the arse to fit and to fall on.

Broke my thumb twice.

First time was playing football in school, I played in goal, someone shot the ball, i put my hand in the way, bent my thumb back and heard a snap. Went to the hospital the day after as I thought I had just sprained it and it was sore. Turned out I had a chip about the size of a pea which has snapped out of the bone (had come off near the joint) cue plaster for just over 8weeks.

Second time was in college, went to open a door and someone else on the other side opened it before me, cue the door edge hitting my thumb and bending it back, breaking it again (and me holding back tears infront of girls haha). Another 6 weeks in plaster and threats of a load of metal in my hand to make my thumb more secure.

I'd go to the hospital myself, they always said to me, if you leave it 48hours then they have the choice to not do anything with it (plaster etc) as the healing process has begun. Not sure how true it is, or wether it was just a scare tactic they used, but I'd prefere to be safe not sorry when it comes to broken bones..

Lol You think it hurts falling off on the infant slope!!

Trying loosing control on the bigger slope, now that f*cking hurts!! I've had quite a few 'nearly broken wrists' not too mention quite a few arse burns!

God only knows what its like to fall off coming down the side of a mountain.

For someone who's constantly hurting themselves you are a bit of a wuss!!

Shaun.

Depends how fast your going, if the snow is hard packed or if its lovely fresh Pow. being buried in pow is sweet, untill your mobile and $$ fall out of your pocket and you cant find them Sad

I managed to dislocate my thumb in the lift line in Whistler.. was a nice fresh pow day I was one of the first bunch up the mountain so was getting some nice freshies tried to show off by nose pressing down to the chair and clipped the feet of the rails that seperated the line up, fell forward and popped thumb out on one of the rails..

Only thing was i didnt realise Id popped it and just thought it was really bruised so carried on, it was towards the end of the season so I spent the remainder eating ibuprofen constantly. A month and a bit later Im back home at home shopping in Asda, notice my lace is hanging out of my trainers so bend down poke lace back down side of trainer with said thumb and somehow twist it as i pull it out cue me yeling like a lil bitch with what felt like a wierd painful click but then getting full movement back in my thumb Thumbs Up so it had been disclocated for a good 5 weeks or so and Id carried on snowboarding for 4 weeks after doing it!
