Are these offers generally any good? I was a little sceptical at first as the sites look a little dodgy, but found Money Supermarket direct you do the sites, so they should be reliable.

https://www.buymobilephones.net/mobile-phones/HTC/HTC-Desire-Free-Sony-Vaio-Mini-M-Series-White/T-Mobile/T-Mobile-35-(24mths)/7361472?adnetwork=af.

This is one that has popped up, with T-Mobile (other one was with Three, not heard good things about them!). And can get this laptop. At the moment I have a Compaq Presario CQ71. So nothing special. Is the Sony laptop any good? I would think its going to be better than my current one.

Thanks Smile.

I understand the laptops are often poor quality.

Lol just what my step dad said xD.

Is it a good deal though? Getting the phone for £180, plus the laptop, and paying £35 (I think) a month. Get unlimited internet as well (well, not unlimited), 500 texts and however many minutes which I don't really use.

Sister wants a new laptop as well, so could give her mine for Xmas lol.

@ Black Knight

That is what I was thinking, but was hoping that a Sony Vaio would be a decent quality. Might pop down to my local Sony store and have a look if I decide to.

Having done hardware and networking course I understand computer spec. They are low spec machines which are offered with mobile phone contracts. If it's just the net your interested in then they will be fine as long as you maintain some general maintenance with them.

To be honest you don’t get a whole lot more for your money if you go out and buy your own net book. Gaming Laptops are a whole new ball game and very expensive.

All depend on what you want the computer for.

All you need is a calculator to work things out...

Laptop says it's worth £299.99

Contract over 24 months at £35... total: £840

No such thing as a free laptop... that kinda money you can buy a much better laptop and get cheaper monthly mobile phone tariff

Just had a quick look at o2, their contract with the same minutes/texts is £45 a month for two years, so £1080.

£840 for the 24 months, plus £180 is still cheaper (only £60 but still). Dunno if I'll get a laptop for that price lol.

As for use, its purely for the Internet, word/excel etc, maybe some films, don't really play games, only game I do play is Football Manager, but can live without it.

This is when I wish I knew stuff about laptops/computers lol.

I pay £10/month for unlimited texts and 200 minutes (which I hardly dip into and you also said you don't use).

"Unlimited" intenet costs me 30p per day that I use it - so max £9.30 if I used if every day and £0 if I don't use it.

Hi

Best off working out what it costs with everything, and whether the interest on buying it up front on a credit card is less than the extra cost on the contract.

Quick look here at the Orange sim only plans, £30 a month with an 18 month contract would give you unlimited texts and 1600 minutes of calls a month. If you use less minutes then you can pay less. For £15 a month you can have unlimited texts and 300 minutes. If you only use those 300 mins then over 24 months that saves you £480, enough to pay for a decent mobile and a laptop without being tied into such a long contract.

The Sony laptop looks more like a netbook to me.

Not sure Orange are the best deal, just picked them as a random one to compare the prices.

All the best

Keith

Hi

Jut looked up that PC. It is a small netbook, and costs £329 from PC World or direct from Sony. The 10" screen would be a pain for general use I suspect.

All the best

Keith

I believe we are talking about the Sony VAIO VPCM11M1E 10.1 inch netbook (Atom N450 1.66GHz, 1Gb, 250Gb, BGN-WLAN, Blue Tooth fitted, Webcam, Win 7 Starter (Black) Hopefully!

I can't believe this, I paid £300 for this brand new at beginning of this year from the Sony center in the Arndale Manchester.. It's gone up in price. Wow!
Even if you shop around companies are selling reconditioned ones in white and pink colours for close to £300. Unreal man!

Anyway it's good reliable net book and runs nice and quiet.
For me this is the way forward, and as previously mentioned you can a good enough phone on a cheap P/M contact.

I had one of those fancy iphone 4's but had to keep resetting the internet settings in order to connect to the internet, I sold it and went back to the Xperia X10 mini. (Top little phone)

Thanks!

I've found a site (onestopphoneshop.co.uk), got the Desire HD for free, £25 a month, 600 minutes, 500 texts and unlimited data and with t-mobile so I'll get free texts between step dad, mum and sisters with the package thingy my step dad has.

Think I'll go for that and then get a different laptop later!

Thanks for all the replies!
