Hawk Alarm Help

I purchased a YZF R1 from a dealer in London a few weeks ago, the bike was a trade in (sold as seen) and when I purchased it the bike was immobolised, (dealer never said this) and the bike does not come with a key fob so of course it does not start. I called Hawk Alarms, and I have purchased a new alarm, are these easy to fit, or more to the point are they easy to take off and replace, as I have written to thelast owner on he of chance that he has the fob.

any help would be greatly appreciated as at the momnt it's sitting in the garage just looking pretty and doing nothing

You bought an R1 that you don't even know works? Was it £500 or something?

Hawk sounds like a cheapo alarm, find the main unit and then remove each wire as you trace it, rejoining any wires that have been cut and had 2 alarm wires connected to the cut ends (immobilisation circuits). It should all become obvious when you look, although saying that i'd have thought making sure a bike works before you buy it is obvious too.

I wouldn't bother replacing the alarm for another similar one.

I was told that Most dealers will cut out an immobiliser if you can provide proof that the bike is yours and that you own it. This may be your best bet if you dont want to start snipping wires.

Also, just had a thought. Some of the cheaper alarms immoblise from the fuse box. Trace the wires back from the alarm box. And if any go into the fuse box cut them and insert the missing fuse. Bob's your uncle.
