Hey guys, I saw this yesterday and thought it might be a good way for any potential new riders or your mates to make the first steps into riding.

https://www.geton.co.uk/content/whats-it-all-about

They offer an hour taster session for anyone and show you some basic stuff. Just signed the missus up for it as shes always saying she wants to learn to ride eventually. I'm guessing its probably also a way for local schools signed up to this scheme to get more CBT's or business through from it, but a free hour to give a taste is pretty fair especially from experience that even a CBT can be daunting for someone who knows naff all about bike and some places charge for weird "pre CBT" type assesments...

I'm in no way affiliated with this site.

I've seen that before and I agree, Its a good idea. Gives people a taster before shelling out the £95 for the CBT.

I think it would be good for the ones that say "I dont want you to get a bike, its too dangerous" to show them how biking isnt as dangerous as everyone thinks and its actually great fun.

Thumbs Up

Hello and welcome

Give it a go Thumbs Up

But be warned, that once most people have a go on the bike, then they are hooked. Very Happy Thumbs Up

It does look a good idea but an hour will fly by and leave your missus frustrated.

She'll love it and want to stay Smile

...Yes

Had a chat to them at Oulton Park.
Excellent idea and may save some people £100.

[edit] and anything that encourages two wheeled transport is fine by me.

Thats brilliant, I wish I'd seen this before. Would have given the link to my mate. He's just flopped his CBT, so i'll tell him to go to this free hour, get some clutch practice before he forks out for another

At least one of my local dealerships takes part in this (South Wales Superbikes in Newport, for anyone nearby who's interested).
I agree it's a great idea to introduce potential new riders, and if it had been available at the time I would have given it a try years ago.

Thumbs Up

Good idea, seen it before at a local motorbike school (with all the facilities belonging to them) they called it a 'free assesment' pretty much can be two things if your new to the biking world its offroad basic's if you have been riding at looking how much training you will need to consider for your A1/A2 tests then they will take you on road like they did to me took about an hour they gave me advice how to improve my riding, had a chat about bikes was a good laugh even though I didn't do my test with them and went solo.

Just thought i'd dig this back up after a few people said they didnt get anyone ringing them.

Missus was waiting for one near us in bolton to contact her and they never did. Meanwhile her mate had booked with another one in manchester and got a call that day. Missus emailed the Get on guys to let them know that no one has got in touch from her preferred school so they cancelled her application to the bolton school and she reapplied at the manchester one. Shes booked in for thursday now. Think its down to where you apply to and if they bother checking their emails. Possibility they get paid through that Get on site too as when she spoke to them they said she couldnt book it over the phone and had to use the site.

Hiya,

I did an hours taster on Sunday and I'm completely hooked! To be fair i wouldn't have wanted to stall and look an idiot in front of a load of other people so I'm just glad that it was just me!

Hoping it will be just me for CBT aswell Smile

This does seem like a good idea, especially if you get to jump straight on a bike. I think there's way too much verbal waffle in the CBT before you get your leg over, telling you things that you'll either already know, or won't care about.

That reminds me, I must get the missus up to the local industrial estate for some illegal back-alley action. Very Happy
