I like it as long as it's packed with pictures and information. Smile

Long replies do no harm and it is good that people take the time to help. Thumbs Up

Sadly many peoples attention spans are somewhat shorter than said posts!! Very Happy

This does mean that if a post runs on a bit, however valuable the content, it will get skipped over in favour of reading the next post; which will invariably something as helpful as:-

You need to get down the bike shop and order a red power-band!

Some simple minds seek simple answers.
Others require thier problem illuminating & apreciate the wider picture.
As for short attension spans, tis a product of the press button instant society in which we live.... a pitty really; so many people with so little patience, who seem so frequently frustrated or bored.... perhaps working on thier attension span might aleviate both complaints.....

Given the nature of the topic, I'd prefer a brief lucid answer in clear English.

Sorry, what was that? I drifted away after the first three words but still feel obliged to pass comment, in the true spirit of the internet.

So you're saying that people are too lazy to read advice they are given? Fuck 'em then.

A few thoughts around this:

I do have a tendency to write a lot more than others with the feeling that I need to fit in all the information I want to convey in.
However, I will often (believe it or not) go back and edit them down.

A lot of a lot of the posts seems to be 'chaff' to some degree - general thoughts in the area. Some like it I'm sure, but for a lot of people, it'll see them skipping over your post and ignoring the pertinent points.

Remember, the only really 'useful' thing the enemy function does is to hide people's posts, so this can always be used if people are really annoyed.

Laying absolutely everything out on a plate for people can in some cases actually mean people learn less - they think about the subject less.

I was amused/disappointed to see that when people questioned a few points in one of your posts in the off-roading section there was no further lengthy reply explaining your position. And not just 'cos I tend to get a bit too stuck in Smile.

I'd love for someone to waffle out lots of (relevant) information when I ask a question, I don't mind sifting through it for the stuff that solves my problem. Helps to get a general handle on the situation which helps me (I like to understand what I am doing).

Perhaps we ought to request that any post over 200 words requires and executive summery at the top?!?! Very Happy
