Easy targets i suppose a couple of women and motorists, maybe they are scared of real criminals, could be Mr Moat might have scared them, absolutly no need for any of that heavy handedness, and i doubt they will be prosecuted.

Interesting that before every shot where the police are being "heavy handed", there are a few seconds of footage not being shown by The Guardian - that couldn't possibly be the woman resisting arrest could it? Looks to me like a nice bit of judicious footage selection purely designed to sate the lefties hatred of the police.

Precisely why they occassionally get shot-gunned in the face - because they fucking deserve it.

Precisely why protesters occasionally get thrown around by the police - because they fucking deserve it.

(since we are basing our opinions of a group on the actions of a few Rolling Eyes )

Fortunately the protester gets to fight another day, which we can but pray isn't the same case for those who feel the need to press their boot into the throat of anyone who dares question their authoratah! Sieg hiel.

And it's always "the actions of a few" used as a counter-arguement - those few being the few of christ knows how many that don't get caught on mobile phones/cctv, however many do get caught but "the tapes got accidently deleted sarge" or "delete that photo/video off your phone now before I nick you", or "we confiscated the phone as we suspected terrorism (that classic catch-all line of reasoning that's so prevalent these days) but the evidence got lost sarge", not to mention how much potential to threaten any witnesses there is "Right now mate, you can make this very easy for yourself (and keep your lip stitched) or else we can come round your house to collect your statement...." (wherein one officer might smell the aroma of marijuana, which would be incentive enough to take the door of it's hinges, seize all computers, drag the family down the station and basically give them a very hard time)

Hell, I'm not a copper and don;t know half the rulebook to twist towards my own agenda, and even I can think of how to get someone to shut the fuck up about what they saw when I was filling that chaps face in for arguing against a "routine stop and search".

For every video / story that appears about the police being heavy handed, I'm willing to bet my left nut that there are plenty more situations where the police treat people respectfully.

I've been stopped for driving with a light out and at no point was I dragged from my car or getting my windows smashed in. I was told that a bulb was gone and that I should drive carefully and get it replaced the next day. Then he wished me a good night. I'll be looking forward to The Guardian publishing that story (because that's a paper that is all about being objective....)

By that logic you should be thanked profusely every time you pay for your goods in a shop vs robbing it at knife-point.

Well by the logic applied in this thread then I guess I should be thanked, because I once read a story about a man who held up a shop at knife point (I think it was even shown on The Guardian website), and since I'm a man then I must also rob shops at knife point. Or would that be tarring all men with the same brush....? Wink

Anyway, enough of this banter - I'm of to the pub!

Trying to police the police... I'm not surprised they treated them aggressively, they're as scummy as journalists. I'm sure they provoked it, and it's wrong for the coppers to go hardcore, but I can understand it too.

Its a little foolish to expect police to obey the law and respect a member of the public who expects the police to obey the law.

You cant really outplay a professional at that game, so best not to play. They are gonna know all the tricks and what they can get away with and what they cant.

Its quite surprising the footage wasnt seized.

I've seen worse, where a guy with a camera was given a kicking, nicked, then when he asked about his camera that they'd grabbed off him was told, "what camera?". The 80s a wonderful decade for police relations.

Nowt beats the one where they bundled a few innocent German tourists in the back of a van cos they were snapping photos. That was just funny.
