Is your firewall or AV blocking it?
Try uninstall the correct way through add/remove programs, then go into program files and delete any related folders too - then you should get a cleaner re-install.

Won't hurt checking but do you have 'work offline' checked under 'file'?

And when you uninstall & then install do you tell Firefox to keep your previous settings?

Or could be something to do with your firefox connection settings. Tools>Options>Advanced>Network>Settings Try it on Auto detect.

Ok my firewall is blocking it as I turned it off and now it works but I cant figure out how to get it to work with my fire wall on? seems to be no option. I dont know how the hell that happened.

Edit: restored defaults on mcafee seems to work now.

My dad gave it to me for free as there was only norton in this when I bought it and I didnt want to install that. Have no probs with mcafee up to whatever it done this time but seems to be all working. It expires this month I think so will be looking for some sort of security thats not shite.

Turn your firewall back on.

1. In McAfee Personal Firewall, Select Personal Firewall Plus.

2. Click View the Internet Application List.

3. Right-click the name of the program you wish to allow and select Allow Full Access.

If you don’t see the name of the program listed, click Allow New Application and enter the full path of where the application is loaded. Example: C:\Program Files\AOL Instant Messenger\aim.exe

4. Close McAfee Personal Firewall.

You can't beat AVG 9.0 free for me or if your gunna pay for one the OEM of Kaspersky.
