Anybody done it?

I'm interested in it and I've been doing my research but not really found much, cars are a lot more common.

Got the idea from a website my friend showed me for photoshopped cars (Digimods)

Anybody got any tips, pictures, past attempts by themselves, anything?

I've got photshop CS5 so just need some hi res pics and a bit of guidance and I'm all set I guess Smile.

Got loads of spare time recently and aside from fixing my CG I thought this could prove quite intriguing.

Cheers,
Steve.

Man that's awesome Cool

At the moment I'm a 'if it can't be erased or drawn on, it can't be done' guy. Hoping to learn a bit more about how it's done.

Currently faffing about with a CBR thou RR as it's got a plain white background, I figured that'd be easier to work with than something that's got a pattern/picture in the background?

Yes, much easier with a white background. What are you actually doing to it?

I find cars much easier then bikes to learn on.

I used to be a member of the website you mentioned, but they banned me. Laughing This is going back nearly 8+ years. Blimey!

Bloody hell haha Razz

Yeah I thought cars would be easier.

Well it's a black CBR1000RR with mirrors and a factory tail 'untidy'.

To start with I was just thinking, turn it into a track bike. Remove the number plate and mirrors. Simple really.

Want to move on to single sided swing arms, paint jobs, swapping and changing petrol tanks and stuff. I've seen it done but it's very distant for me yet.

Not having any luck haha, photoshop novice!

...I have however, succeeded in removing the "CBR" graphics. So it just says 1000RR on the side panels.

Not gonna post it up til it's a bit more respectable Razz

Yeah sounds good & surprisingly useful whenever you want to see what something looks like on ya bike i.e an exhaust.

Cool stuff.

Photoship tip: Layers, you can't have enough of them!, also filters look shit unless they're really subtle.

Interesting to see what others have done.

Cheers guys. Just about to boot up my photoshop and start fiddling with the CBR again.

Anybody got any tips on simple stuff to start with, like removing numberplates etc?

Cheers,
Steve.

There is a brush called something like 'clone' . You ctrl+Click on point A in the image, then when you click on point B you're painting what's at A onto it. e.g ctrl + click on a bit of hedge, click on the numberplate and where you clicked becomes hedge. Drawing around a bit some does a decent job of making the place disappear. Adding block colour, fake highlights and blur also helps make things look a lot better.

Where possible edit the biggest highest quality image you can, then shrink before showing to people Wink

*edit* quick example.

Actually the exact same thing can be done to remove the mirrors. Give it a try. Then try removing the tax disc. The wheel has rotational symmetry and is nicely side on to the camera, so you should be able to grab a chunk of it, free rotate it round, stick it in place and touch it up. Avoid rotating something multiple times as it gets a lot more pixilated every time you do it.

That's awesome.

I'll give it a try now Razz

EDIT: Can't seem to find that clone thingy. Sad

EDIT 2: Clone stamp? Found it but can't figure how to use it.

Gonna remove the 'fireblade' decal aswell I think.

Cut out a chunk of wheel.
Create a new layer
Put wheel chunk in new layer. If you can't see it, move it to the top.
Remove everything from the wheel chunk that you don't want, e.g bits from the disc on the other side.
Move the wheel chunk into position and rotate it.
Clean it up by removing further bits from it.
Brush over any remaining bits of the tax disc using black, then blur any hard edges remaining.

It could easily take you half an hour to do a good job of it, so don't just click about a bit and decide it's impossible Wink Also at each stage it's likely you'll realised you screwed up the last one and you'll have to go back and do it again.

RIGHT. Pencils down, stop writing please.
Post your results for the world to see, you might get some positive feedback, you might get some constructive feedback, or maybe we could all do with a laugh Wink

That's good! Layers will basically be like this:

Stuff over fork lower
copied bit of disc rotor
bike image

in that order, so the bigger stuff in the lower layers. Putting it in layers means you can edit stuff in one without messing up the other layers. You can hide the other layers etc to make it clearer what you're doing, or adjust the transparency of those layers like i did with the carbon overlay.

That's well good Hetz.

It's the shading and stuff that I'd bugger up.

Proper hope I can get better at this. It's frustrating, but pretty fun, in a way.

Cheers,
Steve.
