So, I've been offered one of these for 400 quid with full tax and MOT.
What are the reputation of these bikes? I've heard the build quality isnt exactly top notch...

They do what it says on the tin!

Very simple engine with magnito ignition. The other electrics are a bit primitive mind.

Mine had pitted forks, not sure if that is endemic or just my bike - so I'd deffo be checking the stanchions for pitting if I was looking at one ...

I had a 1982 model for several years and the thing just kept on running. Other than gas in the tank, an oil change every couple of thousand miles, and the odd basic service, I didn't spend a penny on it. It touched 100 MPG too on occasion.

they are a pretty well respected learner bike here in new zealand (250cc learner limit) they use the dr250 engine, so engine wise they are bullet proof, the early ones have a reasonable finish but the ones released in the last 5 years are all made in china, so the finish is really shit!!
as a winter commuter can't go wrong really
