Not sure how 65% heavier than my 150% more powerful 125 makes it a 'proper' bike for the Hyosung .[/quote]
150 % more likely to break down
Having been spoilt in my biking youth with a NSR i'd have to agree with you G that excess weight may not be the best of things in a learner machine. However how many of the leaners these days want to be messing with 2 stroke...........the usual reply on here is they sound like hairdryers etc (blasphemy!) People can't be bothered with the smell of castor early in the mornings! They want a bike that looks good and doesn't have tyres from a tesco trolley.
The op wants a reliable bike with a decent budget and the beauty of biking is that there is so much choice from faired up race reps to commuters and cruisers. As long as he's happy and we direct him away from chinese then it's job done! ____________________ Current ride - Yamaha MT-07 |

ALSO :
im not a rider who likes to drive it nonstop , it purely is just to get me to my sixth form and back which is about 5mile away , as u can tell im lazy and dont like walking , :L |
definitily do not buy a chinese motorcycle mate
get a honda cg125, low seat, cheap as chips to run, and reliable as your guna get, same goes for the yamaha ybr125
cbr125 imo looks rediculous, its a cg with plastics, why bother. cbf125 is just an updated version of the cg, so if you want one of those then its a wise choice (aside from the cost factor which for a 125, to me seems a little excessive)
Though in my opinion, the best solution would be to do your theory and A2 licence (intense weekend for example) and get into big bike territory.
Your height is not so much an issue, go to a dealer with lots of used bikes and try them on for size, im 5ft 6 with short legs and have had several sport bikes and not had any issues (cbr600fs, zx6r b1h and now a zx7r), i can only flat one foot either side or tip toes for both.

CBR does look a bit silly, but general impression I've got is it's slightly higher spec than the CBF (which is still fairly expensive for what it is still) - and hopefully with the current situation, getting one for £1k, you shouldn't lose much money in depreciation.

I was actually thinking my KTM (might be near 200% more power) - but yes, you're right, the Hysoung is 150% more likely to break down, what with being Chinese* .
And yes, I know lots of kids want big heavy slow, slow-sounding bikes because in their minds eye everyone is bowing down to their awesomeness; but I don't think that necessarily means it's the best choice for them .
As for 'messing' with 2 stroke, not sure most actually even know they have to - thought it's not like it's complicated when you're talking the NSR rather than a competition motocross KTM .
*Yes, I know it's Korean, but I know Hyosung people really like it when you get it wrong . Reliability does, however, seem to be a bit more 'questionable' than Jap bikes still anyway. |
