I'm investing in some nice new leathers for next year.

Mmmm... does anybody

:: have any recommended leathers?
:: know of any places where I can buy for a good price?
:: have any recommended leathers?

I'm thinking of black/white colours. Pretty neutral and will probably suit most colour bikes Smile

Thanks guys!! Very Happy

I highly recommend Hideout Leather if they're near to you.

How much are you looking to spend?

I'd suggest Arlen Ness or Berik as the brand, great stuff and well priced. Alpinestars are like iPod - you pay a lot of premium for the image, whilst IMO, the stuff isn't that great.

I bought a complete set for 150 quid off ebay, search Venom motorcycle leathers, they do alterations and fit very well after a couple of days in them.

Havent crashed em yet so cant comment on that area but good quality for the price Smile

I recommend buying second hand on ebay, as your money goes a lot further than with new.

The protection may not be much better on expensive brands, but for tight fit (which is what you need for good protection) they are a lot more comfy, as they are better fit.

So for a particular brand, find your size by trying on some in a shop, then buy secondhand off ebay.

Spend that sort of money on a set of leathers and you're pretty much guaranteed to get a decent set. I think the key to choosing between them is which ones fit you the best. We can argue until the cows come home about how tight they need to be off the peg, but if you find they have a loose waist and tight legs or vice-versa they'll never fit properly anyway.

I bought Arlen Ness leathers because they fitted my body shape the best. Same money would have bought Alpinestars etc. My only gripe with the Arlen Ness ones is that the knee-protector pockets have velcro fasteners that I find a bit abrasive on my skin sometimes.

True actually I get that too but then always wear thermal bottoms with leathers...

I also sometimes get my foot stuck in it Laughing

never had leathers till this week, got a pair of armoured black leather trousers from my drummer who had them bought from a car boot sale by a friend who doesn't like him riding in jeans all the time (he is old and unlikely to change 35 year old riding habits!) they didn't fit him so I ended up with them Thumbs Up look virtually unworn! and fit perfectly. They are from MW leathers London, any good? couldn't get any info on them apart from that they are in barking

Keep an eye out, plenty of bargains to be had. I got a set of proper hand made BKS GP leathers plus accessories off fleabay for a fraction of the 1400 odd quid new price. Similar story with my astars track pants, new and mint in retail packaging but 50% off from a dealership that was closing up shop.

You'd have to be barmy to pay full whack for anything less than a made to measure suit this time of year.
