Clutch problem..

I have a yamasaki ym125-3, its a 4-stroke ohv, i can't get the clutch to engage, i've tightened the clutch cable up and still no joy. I'd rather not open it up unless i have to, anyone have any ideas?

Maybe the friction plates and inner metal rings are just shot and won't engage the cam shaft to drive the engine
Maybe the the clutch springs are shot too.

The clutch cable activates a release mechanism, which releases the force applied to the pressure plates by the springs.
Spring pressure is reapplied to the pressure plate, and the clutch and friction plates are forced together, linking the drive completing the connection between the motorcycle's engine and transmission.

Time to take it apart, refer to the workshop manual, it's a fairly easy job.

Tightening the cable disengages the clutch, like then you pull on the lever. You need to loosen the cable so that the arm on the side of the engine goes right back, then tighten it bit by bit from there.

Ok sorry guys my mistake, it won't disengage, not good with terminology, when i pull clutch lever, wheel keeps on driving, soz and thanks for replying

Well spotted, as mentioned there should be a little slack when pulling in the clutch lever.
If the plates are not separating the edges of the clutch basket may be worn and need filing smooth.
