It’s back to a “bike only” existence for me; my car, Mazda Demio, suffered a serious, probably terminal, malfunction on the way home last night. Sounded like it dropped a valve, which was swiftly followed by it spewing out all of its oil. From the noises it was making when I killed the ignition I would hazard a guess that it is now deceased!

On the positive side, I had it booked in for a new timing belt, water pump, tyres and an MOT next Thursday, so saved a few hundred Euros there.

I can’t complain really, I’ve hammered it for over 130k miles, it had 25k miles on it when I bought it 4 years ago, (155k miles is not bad for a 1300 petrol engine). Other than the usual consumables, oil, tyres, brakes etc I never had to spend anything on it.

Hopefully I’ll be buying an NSR 250, at the weekend, the CBR will be demoted to commuting duties and the NSR will join my DRZ as weekend play things.

So, all in all, probably a blessing in disguise, I’ll be skint whether I buy another car or another bike, but I’d rather be skint and have another bike than skint with an old car, happy days! Very Happy

PS.
All it would take to make my weekend complete is to receive a “Cool Story Bro” response, never had one before, so maybe someone could oblige. Laughing

Laughing unlucky mate, my 1400 petrol got 200,000 then dropped the valves, on cylinder 1 and 4.. cost £120 to fix and is still marching on at 235,000.

Again, unlucky, but NSR 250 = Win!

Impressive!

To be honest I just can't be arsed having it fixed, the NSR is way more appealing.
Have been offered the use of a car if required, so I'm definenitely going to fritter away my funds on the bike! Very Happy

Cant blame you to be honest!
What are parts like on the NSR? Readily available or quite hard to find?

Wow, I thought the only Mazda Demio in existance was Rotechniks courtesy car. I've never seen another one on the road.

Some teenage boys outside Halfords actually pointed and laughed the last time I was using it. Embarassed

I think in the UK they will be known as a Mazda 121.
Here in Cyprus they're common as muck, hordes of 'em roaming the streets!
Considering how much I've abused it over the last four years, I'd have to give it a Thumbs Up . Quite nippy, loadsa room inside, (rear seats fold down and push forward).
Just had a free offer to tow it home from where I abandoned it.

Just spoken to the guy with the NSR, will be having a look on Saturday afternoon, will definitely end up riding it home unless it's a pile of junk!
Now feels like Xmas eve only so much better! Very Happy

In one of the Gran Turismos it was the car I always started with can't remember which though maybe 1?

Wasn't the Mazda 121 a re-badged fiesta for a while?

Don't fully understand this, but I found 11 Cyprus pounds in a desk draw the other day, don't know whether you can still change them for Euros though, time limit might be up.
One Cyprus pound was worth 1.71 Euros when we changed over, my bank balanced near enough doubled over night!

It looked like this, same colour, but wheel trims had fallen off, 4 years worth of accumulated crud protecting the paintwork, two racing slicks on the front, Laughing, and assorted scrapes that where kindly left for me, over the years, in various carparks.
I've never washed it once in the four years I've had it, is that a record?

When i bought my first car it was MG ZR 1.4, after i only had it for 3 weeks my engine blew up with 38k miles on it. Maybe i shouldn't have tried to rev it to 14.5k in every gear when accelerating Laughing

My 1.3 Fiesta clicked over to 180k yesterday.

Considering it hasn't been serviced for 4 years and I do rag it it's doing pretty well. I was told at the last MOT that I'll be lucky if it passes next year (emissions) so will probably run it till then and scrap it.
