I got home from work this morning at 0645 and I just sitting down to a coffee and a ciggy before I went upstairs for a nap when I heard a loud bang coming from the garage. I thought nothing of it, as most people around my area are getting their cars out of their garages at that time of the morning.

My dad gets up at about 0715 and goes downstairs for breakfast and literally 5 mins later shoots back upstairs to tell me that someone had forced the garage door up in half.

I went straight to the phone and called the police and the council, to get the door replaced.

Luckily, 2 of my neighgbours saw what was going on. One of them has given a statement to the police. We had our suspicions about who it was anyway as we have a house full of drug abusers in the house adjacent to ours.

The police say it looks like they have enough evidence for an arrest, as I have given a statement and so has the neighbour. Me or my dad didn't see who it was, but luckily my neighbours did. So, hopefully, the little robbing CUNTS will be arrested and I'll be pressing charges to the full extent of the law. I really can't stand thieves. I despise them even more when they are dole-dossing smackhead scum too.

The best part is, what the hell were they thinking of trying to rob me at that time of the morning?. People round my area at 7am are walking dogs, going to work/school

I'm just so glad that my pride and joy is still in the garage. A new garage door has been put on, the council arrived within an hour to replace it, result! We've even installed extra bolts and padlocks and I'm also on the lookout for a ground anchor too and maybe a cctv system.

He stole nothing, can't prove he was attempting to steal, however he could get done for destruction of property, however unless he has previous, it will just be a fine / warning / something else useless.

Improve your security, not just in the garage but elsewhere.

I guarantee the Police will not follow this up, they know there isn't enough for a conviction and if they tried to push for antisocial damage then CPS would just throw it out.

He will get feck all punishment; you are considered more of a criminal if you go 36 in a 30 or forget to tax your car than you are for breaking into someones garage with the intention of stealing a motorcycle, or even assaulting a random member of the public.

Our country is shit.

I had a brush with the right side of the law, with an assault case once, completely unprovoked, I didn't do anything back, I had no idea who he was. Luckily witnesses knew of him, backed up my story when I reported it and I was pleased when the police said they were going to be taking action against him.

2 weeks later I got a phone call saying they'd had word with him.

I hate to think how they'd deal with a case with my bike, I always leave it under CCTV, under lock and key, and as close to where I am as possible. Glad they didn't get to your bike though, if you think its going to happen again maybe alarm the garage too?

They can get into your garage, they could possibly break through security systems, and the police can view it all back on cctv and they still stand a chance of keeping your bike. If your standing there with a baseball bat though by the time they're halfway through breaking the lock open not so much Twisted Evil

I'm not convinced with cctv - it screams look we have something worth protecting, Thus drawing attention to the propery and its contents, and most thieves don't give a toss about being recorded - what will the police do with a video of a couple of hooded / masked dudes running off with your bike?

I'm glad your bike's OK, but I do have to re-iterate that the rozzers, CPS and courts will conspire to ensure that there is effectively no punishment of the scrotes. Also, you'll come off far worse if you take any action against them. Setting a dog on them is fine, but only if it bites their nuts off on private property.

If you want them to get properly sorted out by the State, you can get it done, but only if you trigger the right buzzwords. You could call in repeated tips (from different numbers = different intelligence sources) about them dealing drugs to gangs of kids at the nearby school, and say you've seen them carrying firearms. I am not recommending that you do this, but it's one way to get some significant action taken against them. Best case, they get slotted like they deserve in a 5am raid, but that's hell on the firearms officer, so it's not really win-win.

Short of that though, once these vermin infect an area, there's no way to get rid of them, unless you want to start a multi-year process with the local council. In the long run, it's easier to move yourself than to try and get them shifted. Sorry.

So he damaged a garage door? No harm really done.

Just fine him the cost to repair the door. Job done*

What, you think he's a real criminal so deserves a prison sentence for bending a bit of aluminium/steel. You evil people! How dare you be upset for such a minor offence!

*As some on this forum would lead you to believe. Here's looking at you Hetzer, C-Dug, FinnDave, Sir...

To those who cannot see the irony in the above post. Laughing

I agree with the OP but also sense that they'll get off completely scotfree.

I think you'll find that "private property" is not safe from the arm of the law. The law applies to the land, interests and subjects of the UK.

Just because you're murder someone in your bathtub doesn't mean you won't be done for murder.

Giving false tip offs will result in a lot of money being wasted while the police set up surveillance and other gubbins to build a case against them. YAY!!! brilliant advice as the countries public sector faces massive job losses and cost cutting.

Fire arms allegations don't tend to get arrests for other crimes. Someone tried that on a mate of mine. \the police kicked his door in at 7am with an armed police team and turned his house upside down looking for the gun. In doing so they will have found all his drugs, cash and blantant evidence of dealing, but they did nothing about this. He went mental at them for kicking his door down etc based on rumours. The police assured him if was based on reliable evidence and that they would be investigating the source of the evidence, so chances are whoever gave the false account to the police is in more trouble than he was!

I think a better bet would be to tell the police you've seen lots of muslims going round there to pick up documents and bags of fertiliser Laughing

If you really wanted to make sure things were secure you could wire in a new light in the garage, but do a really bad job of it and have a live wire accidentally touching the door. Mmmm 13amp-tastic

Aye. The police will do nothing because the CPS wont press for a prosecution.

They caught someone red-handed sat on my already reported stolen, hotwired bike filling it with petrol. He ran off when challenged and had to be rugby tackled by the copper after a short chase.

Walked away from the police station a few hours later with nothing other than an ear-bashing.

Part of the problem IMO is almost every crime appears to be relegated to antisocial behaviour. The police admit to putting a low priority on these. This is despite such crimes seriously affecting the lives and health of the victims.

The police do themselves no favours in only appearing interested in murder and speeding.

The CPS must also take blame for the situation where victims of crime do not appear to get justice. The application of justice has nothing to do with law. The CPS get away with it because they're behind the scenes and Joe Public doesn't usually get any direct interaction with them. Joe Public sees the police either ignore the perpetrators or let them walk.

On topic I hope OP gets it sorted.

slightly in defence of the police,

Im sure if the scrote in question gets a kicking from someone in a ski mask or similar, with no witnesses, im sure they'll be just as useless in investigating that, through intent or otherwise.

And your misses / mates / mum or dad will confirm you were with them then night they got done over anyway.........

Pick your time, its the only justice people like that understand.

I have learnt that you can be arrested for 'Attempting to steal', so longs as the Police have reasonable grounds. Whether this would make it to court, and be prosecuted remains to be seen.

However, to the guy/girl who posted this thread. At least you got the police to come round! Most of the time there's 'no officers'.

Going off assumption here, but you may ride with a 'loud' exhaust on your bike. I bet there are plenty of officers around and about ready to ticket you for that offence Wink

+1

I had some bastard run into my bike a few weeks ago bending the foot peg bracket so much that I couldnt get into gear. Police wouldnt do anything and the council saw nothing on their CCTV camera which is constantly pointing at where the bike is parked.

I'll third that! But let's not forget 36 in a 30 is a BIG deal Wink ahaa, if that's all our country is bothered about, then there really is no hope for us in the future Sad

i love these 'countries on its arse' threads for two reasons, they give us all a chance to rant and they are so f*****g true its unbelievable.

the police unfortunately do deem speeding a worse crime to society then someone kicking lumps out of your property or stealing from you. even people who end up in hospital because a group of thugs jump them never get justice without full on face photography a DNA sample and 300 witnesses even then its tough, the minute we take it into our own hands and get 'justice' sods law will dictate you get done for it.

i agree though that scum aren't afraid of the police or punishment and sometimes the only way is to show them how wrong they were yourself. are you any better then them then? its a tough one because they probably deserve it right? eye for an eye? i cant decide to be honest.

It does, if you set a dog on them the Dangerous Dogs act on covers a public area, not domestic dwelllings, so as long as the dog doesn't kill the 'victim' then a destruction order can not be issued. I learned this when we had a break in Very Happy

Unfortunately it's true that the criminal justice system just isn't scary to a habitual criminal, I have had a scirmish with the law and ended up in prison once, not being a hardend criminal before I went I was terrified. In truth it was easy, not that I would go back, but if I was ever in a situation where I was to go back, then I would be more bothered about friends and family, rather than prison itself. Not that any of the smackheads ever end up going....
