I skidded the bike up the road today, im fine. I can only get the bike into first and neutral but wont go into second, what could have happened? The indicators on the side it was dropped dont work, the green light under the speedo stays on solid green. The rights side are fine and the green light under the speedo flashes when they are on. Do i need new bulbs or something major?

New bulbs/indis.

i'm betting you'll take the indi's off and they'll be broken/smashed.

Sort that out and the speedo light will flash away...

The gear change issue COULD be a bit more serious.... Sure the gear lever aint just bent and it's hitting the engine casing stopping it from being pushed up?

Dunc

Sometimes, when you give the gearlever a good bang upwards, you can knock the gear selecter forks on the drum past the right position and they jam or bend/break. I'm talking about on the outside of the crank cases, not the slector forks inside the gearbox so, if it is that, it's not too serious. you'll have to take the outer case off and have a look.

Having said that, 'not sure if that would explain why you can still get 1st and neutral.

Maybe cos he can go down? Not sure why that would mean he can get back up to neutral though. Wel I guess its half a shift.

Thats my guess anyway. Im probably wrong Razz Laughing

Same thing happen to me last year when i slid it on its side. Is the gear lever straight? I had to take the gear lever off and force it back into position. Has worked fine ever since.

What gear were you in when dropped? if first its only a bent lever. if higher and you needed more force to get down box then again bent lever as its rubbing the casing. Doubt any more serious. Indicators will be a bulb or a pulled wire.

I was in 2nd when it dropped, the gear lever luckily didn't snap off but was about 90 degrees out of place.

I took the gear lever off and put it back in its correct position.
It wouldn't go into 1st or 2nd, it was just stuck in neutral. I didn't kick or tried to stamp it back into gear.
I just sat on the bike and just gently eased the pressure onto the gear lever and eventually it popped into first.

I've got everything sorted now, well nearly. I took the bike out and gave it plenty of revs then tried to change into second, it took a bit of force to get it in but after that it was fine, it works like normal now.

went to two wheels to get new indicator bulbs but they gave me the wrong ones so need to get the right ones then thats me sorted, apart from a few scratched fairings anyway. Smile
