Neithers the instrument panel, I filled up lasr night, turned the bike back on and they were both not working, well I presume so anyway, I only noticed the instrument panel at the time. It was light when I got to work today, I thought being cold last night itd have fixed the problem, anyways it was light when I got to work today, I finish work at 1am, but I noticed when I got to work my rear light wasn't working. Don't really want to risk a ride home... Any ideas??

The most obvious thing to check would be the bulb

No, the most obvious thing to check is the fuse. It is unlikely that the rear light, probably twin bulbs, and the instrument cluster bulbs would all go at the same time.

Check both. Bulbs blowing can often create a short for a moment, enough to blow a fuse with them.

Cheers... I've checked bulbs and fuses, replaced them with spares... Nothing, found that when I push the front and the rear brake together everything lights up... I'm feeling a trip to the garage tomorrow morning, in the light! For getting home I had the RAC come out and wire me up a little circuit, but when I got home even that wasn't working :s Very very confused!

You have a loose earth somewhere then.
It's probably a ground wire or point that grounds the bulbs. That's why when you push the brake lights it comes on, as brakes usually have a different earth.

Thanks! Is it worth trying to find it myself?

the most obvious place to check is where the wires meet the bulb housing. If there is a bare wire showing then it could be earthing itself. It would cause the filament to blow.

Failing that then its just a case of following the wires to the battery and switches.

Cheers! I've spent the last half hour trying to make sense of that wiring diagram but I think I'll leave it too the professionals seeing as I need it for tonight Sad Really appreciate all your help!

EDIT: Fixed all under the warranty I paid for when I bought it! 2 hours work, looks like they've done a lot of fiddling with the after market heated grips too which they sold the bike to me, with them on...

Do just the brake lights not come on, or when you turn the lights on does nothihng illuminate from the back?

Also, what isn't working on the clocks? Just the back lights, or tacho, speedo the lot?

The clocks and brake lights seem to share a G/Y wire (Green/Yellow) which could be split. Both the front and rear brake light switches go through this, and if there is a split after the rear switch but before the bulb, the circuit may work if both switches are on because it would ground itself through a live wire.
