I think the 1779 model had clockwork driven flintlock ignition. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

1779 model?
If thats the year, I'd expect it to have a boiler & shuttle valve, rather than points!? (ie old enough to be a steam engine!)
Is that the engine / frame serial no, or is there a typo in the date?
If its a 1979 model, then it shouldn't be an MX, it should be an E, model. Pretty significant difference; E has twin shocks, MX is a mono! 1979 would be a V or W suffix registration.
I had a V-Plate 'E' model, & pretty sure it was points.
I'm not sure when they brought in the CDi ignition on the later bikes, it's likel to have been introduced when they went mono with the MX model. Pretty sure that the earliest ones in the country were on an X-suffix registration.
(So if your bike is an MX with monoshock rear suspension, and wearing an earlier number-plate, then theres something not quite cosha about it!) ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
