I need help.
When I was a kid we had a program on the BBC each weekday. Andy Pandy, The Woodentops, Bill and Ben, Tales of the Riverbank and one more.
Any ideas as to what one more was, it is driving me and my boss mad.

The series was Watch With Mother & tails of the Riverbank wasn't part of it

Watch with Mother website wrote:
Originally called 'For The Children', 'Watch With Mother' was an umbrella title for a variety of children's programmes that began in 1950 and endured until 1980 in a midweek lunchtime slot on BBC television. The new title was to compliment the radio version 'Listen With Mother', for which a generation of youngsters would hang on the words "Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin."

'For The Children' had begun as a five-minute slot in 1946 and was introduced by Annette Mills (sister of actor Sir John), and 'starred' Muffin The Mule, a wooden horse that stood atop a grand piano. The pair proved so popular that they were given their own series and were joined by Oswald The Ostrich, Mr Peregrine The Penguin, Prudence and Primrose Kitten, Sally The Sea-Lion, Louise The Lamb and Monty The Monkey. Muffin's strings were pulled by puppeteer Ann Hogarth who had bought him for just 15 shillings (75p). Muffin's last TV appearance with Annette Mills was in 1955, just days before she died. By that time the BBC had installed the regular 1.30 pm Tuesday to Thursday slot consisting of 'Andy Pandy', 'The Flowerpot Men', and 'Rag, Tag and Bobtail.' In 1955 these were joined by 'Picture Book' (Monday) and 'The Woodentops' (Friday).

www.televisionheaven.co.uk/wwm.htm this is the website I used.

I remember those programmes, but only from the late '60s.

Tales from the Riverbank was a later addition, along with The Herbs, Mary, Mongo & Midge, Pogles Wood, Camberwick Green, then much later, Mr Benn & Bagpuss

I can clearly remember Andy Pandy, The Wooden Tops and Bill & Ben. But not Rag Tag. Vague memory of Pinky & Perky (don't think they were regularly on).

Fireball XL-5 and Stingray were good, especially the fish. It all went downhill from there, probably as a result of my increasing age. Laughing

Muffin the Mule sucked balls. No self-respecting kid would be caught watching that, Bill & Ben was where the real action was at.

Andy Pandy was a nonce and his bear was a sidekick used for luring small girls over the picket-fence.

Thank-You, Badger!
A nice counter point to Snowie's old-git thread, I am pleased to say, "Sorry, before my time!"
I got Magic Roundabout, Clangers, Bagpuss, and Trumpton or Camberwick Green.

Those are all 70s or later, the others were early 60s, made when black was black, white was white and colour was a distant dream.

Click

As stated Tales of the Riverbank was later so that leaves me with two gaps. The gaps are Rag Tag and Bobtail and Picture Book. Very Happy

All I remember of Picture Book was a sausage dog puppet that used to do something or other and all that is with me from Rag Tag and Bobtail is the name.
The big three were Andy Pandy, who was rubbish and played with girls.
The Woodentops lived on a farm with one cow and a spotty dog and were pointless, a type of pre-school Archers.
Bill and Ben rocked.

Whilst he is at it he needs to pull his finger out as our pensions are going to need paying and there is the small matter of the mountain of dept that we built up during the good years, someone needs to pay that lot off for us.
