hey all,

Just wondering if people could give me a bit of help, doing bit of research on bike safety.. can you give me injuries you have sustained after/during an accident if you dont mind? Or areas of the body that are vulnerable whilst on road bikes?

Thanks for any replies. Smile

Ride a bike for 30 years and count your own injuries. Why do you need to know this, if we know what your interest in our damaged bodies is we might be prepared to help you. Last freak that asked that question used it for masturbation fodder.

better pass the guy the kleenex this one'll keep him busy a while Laughing

besides the obvious spills in bad weather, I've only had one bad accident & it was a doozy

I got T/boned at a set of lights back in 2002 & smashed every bone in my right leg apart from my toes

the ankle was smashed, the tib & fib were both compound, the patella was crushed & most of the knee was de-gloved, the femur was snapped mid shaft when I got catapulted over my handlebars & landed on the guys roof

then a few days later almost every inch of my body turned dark purple from the bruising

I lost count of how many operations I've had on it over the last 8 years but it's somewhere in the hight twenties, more than half of those being in the first four weeks after the crash, the last one being in september 2008, although I'm expecting to go back in for more some time around february next year, the first of those being a hip replacement to my left hip caused by my uneven gait & then they want to start on my other leg again to see if they can get it to bend again to, hopefully, make the new hip last longer

& all this was because some dozey fuckwad was more interested in chatting on his mobile phone than looking what was going on around him

I broke:

Both femurs, one midshaft and one severely fragmented head/midshaft fracture.
Right fibula.
Two vertebrae in my neck.
Two vertebrae in my back.
4 Left ribs.
Left cheekbone + optical orbit.
Bruised my lungs, liver and kidneys.

In one accident. I can supply you with x-rays if you wish! Laughing!

The next accident I was going faster and only broke a finger. Laughing.

All of you is vulnerable on a bike.

Started riding in 83. Since then my worst injury was squatting down between two of my bikes and skinning my arse and wrecking my jeans on the serrated footpeg of my trail bike.

Don't spread that around or the government will make people squat between bikes as part of the test.

I had a major 'Off/Spill/Accident during the summer.
I was working from a ladder when I knocked the empty pot of paint off the top rung.
Injured a bathroom mat and some paint splatter marks on near the wall under the window.

Some free info for ya.

You can find out more accident/injury detail if you use the search button on here. The forum is awash with Attention Hoowurz. Laughing

Come off a few times. Nothing ever broken apart from my bike.

Skinned my hands once just up my lane with no gloves on.

hurt my back but it sorted itself out the next day after going into the back of a car.
