Insurance is up for renewal and the best quote I'm getting so far is £140 TPFT or £112 TPO Sad

This is the same as what I paid last year and I thought with another years no claims it would have come down a chunk. I've tried all the tricks I know... playing insurers off against each other, reducing mileage etc

Anyone got any other tips? I'm 25, full licence, 2 years no claims, riding a 1998 xj600 s Diversion. I also live in an exceedingly dodgy area of London which has an insurance rating of F* (the worst you can get).

It really might be worth looking at doing the IAM course. I have and am insured by them. To be fair they have have always beaten whatever quote I have given them and their policies are excellent. Oh and I'm 21 and pay £300 fully comp on a VTR with a 1NCB.

Your doing well if its the same as last year.... Thumbs Up

Most have gone up this year thanks to the bad weather at the start of the year... And all the prats that claimed.

You're not going to get much, if any, cheaper than that. It's just not worth the risk to have you on their books for any less, no matter what your bike and track record is. Maybe try to get FC for not much more - that would be better value.

I think you have already saved a lot this year. Getting some quotes out of interest has seen a 50% increase under exactly the same terms as what I paid 3 months ago.

The best time of the year to get insurance is just after the summer, in spetember. The weather is still good. The problem with getting quotes this time of year is the harsh winter we are in for. Trying to get insurance after the winter is even worse as loads of people crash in the ice, and the insurance companies put the premiums up to cover that.

But yeah, IAM is something to consider. I for certain will be doing it at the start of the summer next year as I'm only 17. I will do it for both bikes and cars as after a year it will have paid for itself.

Or you could move house Wink?

Try Quidco.com An excellent cashback website. I got my insurance this year through Swinton. Was fully compt for about 130 with Breakdown insurance. £30 cash back through quidco and £30 cash back through Swintons. Happy days. take a look at quidco.com

Cheers
