Sit on one and ride one.

Which one can you afford as quite different.

Both are capable roadbikes. The 99 blade is physically big whilst the R6 is svelte and a decent looker. 99 Blades will limit you to tyre choices since they have a 16" front wheel. 120bhp and plenty of torque from 918cc will see you munching the motorway miles and backroads effortlessly, but it was a bit of a lardy thing compared to the R1. Feedback from blade users was that it's a very fast bike and well made. Just nothing special. R1's and ZX9RC's had a bit more edge to them making the blade feel a bit more "grown up". Rear tyres are 190 section. Chain and sprockets will be consumed faster than the 600 too.

If you can get a test ride or sit on them then it's all good. Despite having a blade, my money will probably go on an R6. The 03 bikes don't have the gearbox issues of the 99-02 models. Craig had one as his commuter bike and spoke highly of it. He also had a mint original 893 blade too so he can compare the two bikes somehow.
