Budget is 600 max and needs to be from Argos or Comet - Needs to have a decent graphics card, and HDMI port.

Samsung £550

Looks like the comet site is down so cant check yet.

What do you think?

I nearly bought one of those from amazon problem is many of the places (at the time) were selling them with Win7 32 bit and I wanted the 64 bit edition. Its 512mb graphics card was also a tad weak compared to the one in my Toshiba.

So I bought the Toshiba L650-165, which has a 1gb graphics card, it ranks about the same as the Nivida N11P-GE (5650 is about 2% faster and has 1GB)

Argos doesn't sell it, Comet sells the 12P, 10Q and 12K versions which simply don't have graphics cards.

But for the money its not too bad. Mine runs left4 dead 2 at about 36FPS dell do a similarly spec'd one but adding a graphics card adds a huge amount of £££ to the price.

That's very good and a decent price. Just have to hope the fan doesn't sound like a jet engine.

I had one of those VAIO F series with i7 and 240 GT, trust me when I say I couldn't hear the TV for the fan.
When laptops get a little to powerful they really need cooling.
The GT310M may be an issue with this one but only when gaming.

The discontinued Acer 6935G, Blue Ray, Full HD, 2.0 GHZ, 1 GIG Dedicated Turbo cache Nvidia 9600M-GT which is an Hybrid SLI, 4 GIG DDR3 with a built in sub-woofer for great sound runs all games with ease nice and cool.
HDMI out too. You can pick them up for£300, put W7 on them and they are realy quick.

Other than that it's Dell XPS or Alien ware.

Thank you guys, really appreciate the feedback.

The laptop in question was released early this year so not that old. I am a bit worried the GC card being able to cope but I should be able to tweak that with the games itself - perhaps running at lower res.

I may even wait for xmas for a better deal but an i3 with a GC card at this price is pretty good.

Some good points raised here in terms of cooling - I am still researching how it performs at max load.

i3 is cool but i5 and i7 in a laptop with a good graphics card will take some cooling.
My experience!
Is this you?

No Ichor Laughing that was a funny video review I came across.

I believe the i3 should do the job - planing to play wow and cs source and I have played those games on some really bad machines. My main concern was the laptop dying on me after a year.

Just an article I have compiled for someone else.

Well this is the best I have found and I have to say for the money the spec is great, Dell are good quality. £499 Pretty amazing I have to say Dell Studio 15 1558 Laptop 350M 2.27Ghz 4.0GB RAM 500GB HDD Jet https://www.uklaptops.co.uk/shop/Dell_Studio_15_1558_Laptop_350M__2.27Ghz_4.0GB_RAM_500GB_HDD_Jet.html

https://www.google.co.uk/products?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:*:IE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7ACAW&q=Dell+studio+1558&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=d-XkTOL6IYywhQe5yL3MDA&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=3&ved=0CDUQrQQwAg

If it's just decent and top quality one your after I found this Sony VAIO VPCEB1E0E 15.5 inch notebook (Core i3-330M 2.13GHz for £530(Forgive me for going by £30 idiots/grease monkey's on here will quote it, they seem to have learned the art of copy and past, google and wikipedia,
I wonder if they know about ctrl+alt+del, then ctrl+v onto a word doc, new trick for them to learn and play with for as while, should keep em busy!)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-VPCEB1E0E-notebook-i3-330M-2-13GHz/dp/B00366U5NM/ref=dp_cp_ob_ce_title_1

If you want to run games I would look for the discontinued Acer 6930G or better still the 6935G, Blue Ray, Full HD, 2.0 GHZ, 1 GIG Dedicated Turbo cache Nvidia 9600M-GT which is an Hybrid SLI, 4 GIG DDR3 with a built in sub-woofer for great sound runs all games with ease nice and cool.
HDMI out too. You can pick them up for£300 to £400, put W7 on them and they are really quick.
Make sure it's 9600M-GT because it's a Hybrid SLI mobile card.
It's gunna have to be ebay for this one.

I bought mine for £400 reconditioned but as good as new form laptops direct in Huddersfield.
Mine was nearly £1,300 retail when first released.
You will need to call them to ask them what they have in the way of reconditioned laptops.
You will get a lot more for your money, they have some pretty good advertised deals too.
