PostPosted: 21:18 - 16 Nov 2010    Post subject: How long is your commute? Reply with quote

Keep seeing these threads come up about commuting and I constantly think about making a thread about it, so here goes!

How far is your daily commute. Mine is 3 miles. Does it depend on what city you live in or if your in the country, or do you live in one place and work in another?

Some people seem to live fairly far away (Keith lives 90 mls.) from work and I want to know, how far and how long your daily commute is and where you live in accordance with where you work?

Thanks Mr. Green

Depends on the weather. If its cold and wet its 5 miles. Nice and dry it can be up to 30 miles.

Living in portsmouth and have been known to commute to work at the other end of Portsmouth via Alton.

46 miles each way, making it a 92 mile round trip each day.
Along with a bit of food for lunch and a coffee in the morning, I am spending around £15 per day AT WORK. Thumbs Down

I must praise my little R5 though! It's got me to and from work every day for the past 2 months. I've covered nearly 8,000 miles in it since owning it, and the only time it let me down is when the throttle cable snapped. to which I finished the remaining 38 miles of my journey with the lace from my work boots. Laughing

I am transferring to a new depot on Monday 22nd. It is in Sittingbourne, bringing my daily commute to just shy of 8 miles each way. Very Happy

10 miles each way.

bus - 45mins.
Car - 45mins (1hour in rush hour)
Bike - 15mins irrespective of time.

Brilliant.

Bus lanes and filtering does the job rightly

Near Southwold in Suffolk to Harlow in Essex. A12, A120 back roads rest of way.

Edit *
Forgot to add, best time 11/2 hours not usually more than 2 hours by bike.

Push-iron - 18 - 20mins
Bike 25 - 35 mins
Car 45mins - 1 hour
Feet - 1 hour

About 4-5 miles thru urban and city traffic if I take the direct route.
Or about 10-12 miles+ along the "scenic" route
