Like most of these experiments it's all about understanding other things rather than any kind of useful application or even thinking about one. I suppose being able to reliably produce a few atoms of antimatter might be useful in nuclear fusion research mainly for starting reactions, nuclear fusion reactors that can maintain a reaction and produce power are probably going to be the next and maybe the only big development in the next few decades.
