My current work place is pretty generous in terms of work leave. I've been there only a short time and have acrued 7.5 days add in a couple of weekends and I've got nigh on 11 days.

Any suggestions as to what I can do or where I can go?

Seems a bit cold for bike touring and not enough time to go play in Asia as a flight would suck up a day at each end.

I mean I can kill zombies on a computer screen any day.

What say you BCF?

Ride your bike via the Plymouth to Santander ferry and enjoy the med for a bit.

(There is a new Portsmouth to Santander ferry, however take your own food onboard as the restaurants are nothing like the Plymouth to Santander ferry, my parents where very disappointed with it)

That should give you long enough to go to the most western point on the British mainland and check it out for me Smile .
Take your camera and take buckets of pictures of the route.
include in your pictures road names and numbers Thumbs Up
Then send them to me via a pm Smile .

None of this will help you, but it will make my life a lot easier, if I get the chance to do the Four-Points Laughing Laughing

The outside of my house needs painting as well Thumbs Up Laughing

Africa... No (real) time difference, can rent a bike a blat around, everyone is bribable, and it's just coming in to summer now so will be hot but comfortable.

Seriously, bloody lovely place.

Highly recommend Mozambique, Zimbabwe is also well recommended.

Flights are the only pisser as they're not that cheap.

I've heard that Angola is supposed to be a good place to go, safe but relatively untouched by Tourism. Plus it is fucking massive.

Tenerife is a warm blackpool, but you can also hire motorbikes and tour the island. Not done it myself but apparently there's a volcano, and lots of impressive secenery.

There is indeed Smile...

Plenty of 'touristy' things to do.
Though a decent amount less tourists than there used to be, it seems.

Tenerife is gash. Also in the euro so bend over and take the raping. It was bad enough there 3 years back. 4 years back I was in Gran Canaria, certainly avoid there.

Africa... it makes sense.

Morocco maybe, but no point flying as far south as zimbabwe for 11 days off. I think Zimbabwe is proably pretty lawless at the moment anyway.

Not heard a bad word about zim yet. As for flying the extra distance, I think London - SA is 10 hours... tis 4 hours to Canaries... that extra 6 hours after you factor in time to airport/check in etc isn't /that/ bad... and you'll actually have fun.

Africa is quite novel. Now I'm in asia, its amazing how many whites make it this way, or to america... but to go far south... nope. Really don't see that many of us there. So more novelty points, and certainly more anecdotes.

And Itchy seems to be like me, and thrives off anecdotes. The canary islands are hellish retirement pits. Trust me on that, I wrote my dissertation on them.
