I've got a 1997 (F3) zx6r that I wrote off 6 or 7 months ago thats been sitting in my garage collecting dust as I've not had the time to start taking it apart.

Anyway I've got some time on my hands for the next few weeks and I want to totally strip it, with the engine out and sell off bits and pieces.

My dilemma is that the front wheel is crushed to shit, its embedded in the radiator and exhaust downpipes with the forks bent back I cannot get the wheel off without it raised.

Because the forks are bent I cant get a front fork paddock stand to raise it, thinking of buying a front headstock paddock stand but its money I need for other things really unless I can find a cheap'un.

Only other thing i can think of is using some ratchet straps through the ram air holes in the frame and hoist it up from a beam on the ceiling, only have 1 exposed beam in the garage and its right near the door though so not ideal either. Any ideas?

Cheers and heres some pics Smile

Bloody hell, done a good job on that! Try getting some car axle stands under the engine or put a piece of wood under the engine and use a hydraulic jack perhaps? Strip off the rest of the bits first then come to that last.

Not just dump it on its side and take out the wheel etc?

Stick an old matress down or whatever.

See below. Basically what evoboy suggested.

https://p1.bikepics.com/pics/2008/10/28/bikepics-1464489-full.jpg

I needed to replace my sump. I didn't have ANY paddock stand and wouldn't have worked on the pebbledashed patio. SO, I just found an old rug in the shed belonging to some previous student and used that. It did the job pretty well because the shingle/carpet moulded into the shape of the bike!

Cheers for the replies,

I am offically retarded... I don't know why I didn't just think to lay it flat on something soft..

Will crack on with it tomorrow although I still have to go buy the actual tire removal inverted socket type thing to get the bloody thing off. Rolling Eyes
