****CALLING ALL 125CC OWNERS****

to all you 125cc bike owners out there -- do any of you fancy doing a tour from john o groats to lands end next summer?

thinking about doing a 900+ mile - all avoiding motorways and using A and B roads..

Anybody fancy it?

This CG owner will be watching this thread with interest Smile .

I was going to do some mini-touring on my CG this year but due to circumstances and the fact that I chickened out meant that it did`nt happen Sad .

I love my little CG, but I wonder if it can manage a tour of that length with a bloke my size on it plus all my kit???

Love the idea, I'm seriously considering flogging the CB500 and getting a CG anyway. Will depend on what the work situation is, and whether it coincides with the wife being in the country or not.

I think work commitments may limit involvement but will try and link in for the bit through Yorkshire if I or other family members can.

This thread is prejudice to none cg riding, 125 riders who would really like to go from John O'groats to Lands end.

You make me sad.

I'm already doing some touring of Scotland on my new 400 this summer and hopefully a big euro tour as well. However I'm also planning to rebuild my RXS, so if this can become a small bikes tour rather than a CG exclusive one I may well be up for it.

What kind of dates are you planning on doing it and will it be camping all the way or hostels?

My XR "which has the same engine as the CG" carried my 6'1 16stone ass with an extra 22kg in camping gear 600miles fine!

Was just a little slower and I did burn quite a bit of oil carrying all that stuff

I'm up for this. Last November I believe I posted some of my Hastings to Ireland trip on here as it happened which was 1000 miles. I don't have a CG at the moment but you can bet I'll have one or something similar come next summer.

Where do I sign up?

Most probably coming
kemshell123 - West Yorkshire
beechbone - Essex or Southampton (not sure yet)
Alexio - Kent
rob yarrr - Near Stoke-On-Trent?
The Artist - Cheshire
Carl_steveo - Sunderland
fezza612 - Wisbech, Cambridgeshire

Maybe:
pepperami
The Shaggy D.A.

Late July or early August would be best for me as I'm doing a Scotland tour some time at the beginning of July and hopefully Europe in late August/September. Although I need to be in London to see Iron Maiden on 5th August Very Happy

Pepperami make a note in his diary about July Thumbs Up and makes a big note in his diary to make sure he has some ear-plugs for the 5th August or is out of London Laughing

I might join but I am in the middle meaning I would have to do 2 lengths of the country to do it properly.

Everyone is going to have to do two lengths of the country. They need to go up to John O'Groats, then do the trip, then up to wherever they live. Man up Razz

Having a quick look at Google maps, it's between 870 and 912 miles avoiding highways for LETJOG, depending on your route. For me, home to Land's End is about 325 miles, and home to John O'Groats is about 620, making a round trip for me about 945x2=1890 miles. Google estimates speed as under 40mph, so it'll be about 50 hours in the saddle.

Best pack the pile cream Smile

Also at about 80mpg, you're looking at about 130 quid's worth of petrol. Add camping, food and oil, best budget for about £200.

Yeah it's going to be a bit of a challenge. Also...can I suggest we do South to North? This way seems backwards...
