2002 R6 brake pads.

So, I took the pads out of the R6 earlier, to grease up the slide pin and piston faces etc before winter as I use it year round.

The front pads are looking quite a bit worn and battered now, what pads do people recommend? I don't want to spend ridiculous amounts of cash, and the bike is only used on the road.

My '99 has always had EBC HH's all round. Work perfectly for me

EBC Sintered HH pads made a massive difference to my Fazer. compared to other bikes I have ridden they were fantastic!

Thanks guys, had heard a few reports that these are prone to wearing discs down very quickly, anybody find this the case? if not, I'm gonna order some from wemoto while they still have the offer on

I did notice that they were harder on the discs under heavy heated operations than the standard pads, but the braking power they give is far superior therefor less pressure needed etc. Give them a go, if you don't like em, change them for different ones when they wear out :p

they didnt make mine wear any faster that i noticed.. never had to change the discs in 3 years i had it and i ride it hard..

Simple equations.

The harder you ride it the harder on your pocket.

More fuel to go fast = More Pad material to slow it down.

If you want good braking fit the best pads with the most grip.
It's up to you how you ride the beast as to how fast you eat into the discs.
I always use the most aggressive pad material as when you need hard braking it is there for you but if only moderate braking is used then they will not wear discs any more than 'standard' pads.

The disc wear argument against sintered pads is shit, My TDM (has the same braking setup as your R6) has original discs and has always had sintered pads and is on 42k. The discs aren't even near the limit yet.

I can't see many R6's getting to 42k miles personally.

The main reason discs go, is poorly serviced calipers that are gummed up with crap and drag all the time this causes excess wear and can wrap the discs because they get too hot.

Blue spots are a piece of piss to service drop the pads out, pump out the pistons till you see a clean ring around the bottom. Use a liberal amount of brake cleaner and a tooth brush then use some brake lube on the pistons. I think is is silicon grease but can't be sure it will say on it suitable for brake systems.
