Twas an impulse buy when I got it.
Carlos yes it's the preload adjustment, there's one for the telelever front forks near the top yolk aswell - as to being tight I'm not sure how I would know that? Laughing

At one stage Bike magazine said that was the best road bike ever produced. That was in 1999, but it can't have changed that much.

What is it like?

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

As a road bike its pretty good, when its dry the handling is superb for what is a pretty heavy bike - the motor has enough grunt for most types of riding.

That said its kinda thirsty, not as confident inspiring when road conditions aren't perfect, pretty vibey, for the type of bike it is weather protection isn't great - not the comfiest bike either and it feels very much like you are 'on top' rather than 'in' the bike if that makes sense.

So no.....not the best bike for the road, not the worst by a long way and while its not perfect its got adjustable damping front and rear, looks good, sounds nice, interesting engine and looks imo cool for a beemer with the single sided swingarm and underseat zorsts, remember it is 10 years old, ahead of its time in styling terms and the bike is certainly different.

If i'm honest, the hornet is more towards a perfect road bike.
