I don't see much point in having new forks that are still RWU. Should've got USD's. (Yes I know the calipers will fit this way, but still)

Fair, but what does an MC do? How much of a difference does it make?

Different master cylinders have different bores. They generally tend to match the calipers they are designed for.

For example I can fit a radial Daytona/Striple R M/C to my base street triple, and it may well improve the braking performance in terms of sheer brute force with a larger bore moving more fluid down the lines, but may have dire consequences for the stock conventional calipers.

Yah, having an inferior M/C and decent calipers is kind of pointless though.

I was more referring to having an M/C meant for a 4/6 pot sportsbike setup on a weedy dirtbike caliper or something like that.

Generally the stronger the M/C with regards to the caliper, the stiffer the lever will be and the more on/off the brakes will be. Obviously shoving more fluid down the lines just makes the calipers apply quicker I.E with less effort at the lever. This can be a good or a bad thing. Race bike brakes tend to be ultra hard on the lever but then again they tend to have trick suspension/sticky rubber to deal with the snappy stoppers.

A good brake setup will have a balanced rotor, M/C and caliper setup with braided lines. But we don't live in a world where everyone can afford that. Generally the best upgrades you can make to your brakes is to strip and clean them, fit some high quality pads and braided lines. Though no doubt someone will wade in and mention, if you can lock up the front brake then you already have enough power...

By the way Welsh, nice Hornet. Wink
