Does anyone have a restrictor kit for a Honda CB500 for sale?

Please email me on beinspired@tiscali.co.uk

You have to buy it from an approved dealer, so that you are put onto a central database. In the eyes of the law you shouldn't buy them secondhand

Bit of a grey area, technically in the eyes of the law all you need is the physical restriction, and buying second hand shouldn't affect that. I wouldn't fancy paying good money for a couple of washers though Confused

Can you not buy second hand and then just get it fitted by an approved dealer/mechanic? Although it might be hard to find one that will fit it if you're not buying it from them in the first place.

I know that its not a legal requirment to have a certificate, but you might be asked to prove that the bike produces less than 33bhp.

The manufacturers of these restrictors insist that your details are registered with them, but again its not a criminal offence if you don't!

But I think £150 is way to much for a couple of bits of metal!!

Thats why i'm searching for a second hand one from someone who has already completed the restriction period rather than getting a new one.

More suggestions appreciated.

Er, hate to rain on your parade, but I destroyed my £70 quids worth of metal when I removed them from my old VFR. The restrictor 'O' Rings are so weak that they bend with the slightest provocation, hence I don't think you'll find a second hand set. I'm sure that they rare designed to be unremovable without destroying them in the process. I *might* be wrong, so I wish you luck anyway! Smile

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
