Ok guys and gals i have found a really cheep front sprocket for a ns125f it has 14 teeth which i think is one tooth bigger than the original, can any one tell me if this will make the bike have a greater top speed, or quicker acceleration !!
Thanks

If you increase the size of the front sprocket, you lower acceleration and increase top speed (assuming the engine is able to rev that much with the added resistances)
If you decrease the size of the front sprocket, you increase acceleration, and lower top speed. However on some bikes which can't redline in 6th you are going to increase your top speed as it can now use all the rev range (depends on how much it wasn't revving in 6th before though)

A bigger front sprocket will give you a higher top speed.. but only if your engine can already redline in 6th, if not it will give a slower top speed probably. Same effect with a smaller rear socket.

Thus a smaller front or bigger rear will give better acceleration.. and can help top speed in some cases where a bike can't red line in top... it lets the engine make more use of the available power.

Hi

Standard sprockets are 13 tooth front, 33 tooth rear.

Chances are that if the bike is restricted it is going to do nothing for top speed as they won't rev out in 5th or 6th, but would loose you acceleration.

All the best
