Hi,

I have a Yamaha Neos 2000 plate 50cc.

It has a rear number plate light but the bulb has gone. Which bulb would be would fit?

Any help would be much appreciated.

mopeds do not need a NPL light, however should you wish to replace this remove the bulb take to halfrauds and compare against their stock, buy and replace, simples!

Not too sure about this - Not mot'd but construction and use lighting regs-
(iv) Rear Registration Plate Lamp - on motorcycles first used on or after 1 April
1986 must be approved to EC Directive* 76/760, 93/92 and Chapter 2 of 97/24 or
to ECE Regulation 4 or 50;

But this is true, take the bulb out and find a replacment in an automotive supply store.

Errr, my Derbi doesn't have one. It did have a reflector that I ripped off though Laughing

And the back light is always on so I guess it lights up the number plate somewhat?

Replace reflector for MOT it is a failure! (personal experience, not me, my dippy mate)

Strange, my reflector was covered by my L plate, i was told to take the reflector off or buy a stick on one and apply it to the L plate by the MOT guy. No mention of it being a failure, it wasn't even an advisory.

Not all bikes have a separate plate light as the rear cluster often has a small cut out or clear section in the underneath that illuminates the plate from above.

It is an MOT failure not to illuminate the plate as is not having a red reflector on the plate too.

Easiest thing to do is take the bulb out and go to Halfords or a car spares and look at the shelves. It'll only be a few pence to buy.

Just need one present, i drove to toys r us and took one off a kids bike and glued it to my mates NP =) passed no prob

Not on a moped though. That's why part of the official de-restriction of a Peugeot Speedfight 2, was to fit a rear reflector.

My scooter had a rear reflector, but no number plate illumination. The rear reflector was useless though, as it was covered up by the L plate.

A red reflector is a reflector whether it be long, straight, round, square or hand shaped, it doesn't matter.

Not that I'm saying you're wrong, but you're wrong as a stock bike from a large manufacturer has compliences and specs to abide by. What an owener does to it afterwards is another matter.

Any motor vehicle has someway of illuminating the rear plate, if not its not only an MOT failure but also a guarenteed tug by the Police if seen at night.

I know this is Oz, but reflector and separate illuminiation unit above the plate on my old Scooter.

Even the little Chinese Monkey bike has a cut out section under the rear brake light downward illumination.

I wouldn't really worry about the reflector, MOT places generally just stick one on the plate for free rather than fail it and pi$$ off all thier customers.
