For the past week or so since we've had Ice and Snow, I've been running the bike in the garage for an hour or so to keep the battery life and keep it running.

However, today I made a school boy error, and went 1 click past steering lock and left my sidelights on, I went to work at 1pm, and got called at 5pm to say my alarm was going off at home. Battery is totally flat Sad

I've always believed in a good piss take when somebody makes a daft cock up. So have your fun Laughing

I did that last year at college but thankfully only for an hour and the bike just started.. I always check now Laughing

But your better off just leaving the bike off and sticking the battery on an optimizer Smile That is what I'm currently doing.

Running it in the garage would have killed the battery eventually anyway (or you Shocked ) Like said above stick it on charge or just leave it if you are going to use it again after the snow. Should be fine for a few weeks, some even go for a few months!

It's a 2002 Yamaha R6 Wink I switched past Lock by accident and left Parking Lights on.

Edit: Am I going mad? I'm sure there was a post before this one that I replied to?

Who are you? You just seem to make random threads about leaving your lights on.

I did this before, no need to tell everyone. Not much of a fail and to make 2 threads is even more retarded.

Sort your life out.

Oh dear, how empty would a general forum be, if nobody posted anything random? Plus, yes I obviously intentionally made 2 identical threads, that would clearly be retarded, and doesn't take a genius to work out it was a mistake Thumbs Up

lol @ Sort your life out, wonderfully retarded comment.

Why were you running it for an hour at a time?

I never had a power in my garages but would remove the battery and charge in doors, or move the bike so that an extension cable could be used to charge with the battery in the bike.

I have not used this forum for very long, and didn't realise that members could delete their own threads, as the majority I visit doesn't allow regular members to do so.

I will remember for next time, thanks Thumbs Up

Simples.

Apart from not charging your battery, running your bike like that actually creates condensation in your engine and will cause damage.
Just take the battery off and put it on a trickle charger.

I never knew that, Thumbs Up

But I do still ride it through winter when ice clears, just no longer every day. as I leave for work early when there's ice.

The bike is now connected to a trickle charger, and all is well.
