Take your bike out on an icy/snowy day

https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/doovydoo/Screenshot2010-12-01at105428.png

Get stuck behind a big lorry for a few minutes

https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/doovydoo/Screenshot2010-12-01at110048.png

Overtake said lorry

Oh what's that up ahead?

Hello coppers

https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/doovydoo/Screenshot2010-12-01at110159.png

Pull over? sure!

https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/doovydoo/Screenshot2010-12-01at110212.png

https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/doovydoo/Screenshot2010-12-01at110221.png

Why yes this is my bike.

https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/doovydoo/Screenshot2010-12-01at110228.png

Of course I'll show you my license.

Anyone want to guess the ending?

Breathalyser, HORT1, whinge about loud exhaust, fine for small numberplate (if fitted).

Attempt to fabricate traffic infringement + or - fine for said infringement if you looked like you believe them.

Kicks off when notices camera.

Nice of him to be doing fk all about the illegally parked vehicles that are obstructing the vision of vehicles that need to pull out.

Oh but it gives him something to hide behind so they are ok.

Good point. It's illegal to stop where you did.

Nice guesses so far. But DonnyBrago gets it!

Here is my bike in question by the way.

https://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/doovydoo/Screenshot2010-12-01at112428.png

So yeah, small plate and loud can.

In the end he just told me to be careful out there on the icy roads at this time of year, I wasnt speeding excessively but due to my exhaust and close proximity of flyover wall/lorry it sounded a helluva lot louder.

He checked my license, made me test my horn + indicators + brake lights, and was happy. He did ask if that was a camera attached to my helmet too, but didnt kick off. I said it wasnt on Cool

My first day of helmet cam and get some good footage/stills Very Happy

The big white van with blue lights and police written on it 'hiding' behind the little car is probably his. Wink

Indeed. I'm always amused when things are terribly dangerous for other people to do, yet perfectly fine for a police person to do.

I'd presume they'd pulled the other car too.

So in other words, he stopped you for being flagrantly in posession of a motorcycle in direct contravention of the Hippies, Darkies and People Whose Face I Don't Like The Look of (Police Powers) Act. 1976

As Police programmes are always saying, you have a right to film in a public place. Furthermore, no Police officer should be afraid of a video account of events, unless they are doing things that are unacceptable.

But the public should certainly be worried by what a police person may try and do regardless.
Plenty of stuff out there from people that know their rights in great detail and aren't worried by the consequences that show if you're not in that position, you can get quite badly done over.

You're a brave man, don't think I would have fancied that gap!

Maybe the camera is distorting it a bit, but that looked like a pretty tight squeeze.

Looks like a decent bit of room.
I'd be more cautious on my c90 going for something like that, but on a big bike; absolutely fine.

I go for gaps like that, but i like to spend as little time along side a lorry as possible, so i'd have sped through that gap and got in trouble at the other end Shocked

Yeah he was alright about it to be honest, just funny I had it on camera too after not been filming on a bike for about 6 months.

quite happy with the camera placement and quality of video/stills.. it's one of the real muvi MD80 cameras in a sparkplug box on side of helmet.

nice to have some footage of the snow riding.

it took me about 5 mins to get down my road this evening though, was pretty much solid ice.

I thought about making a system for a bike camera where it keeps a buffer of the lat 20 seconds of footage, then when you have an accident (accelerometer in camera) or press a button it stores what's in the buffer. Means you could get nice high quality video without having to have a shite load of memory to store all the uneventful video.

Haha good cop out today rather than bad cop!

They ALWAYS get people down at staples corner though. It's a bit of a blind bend as you flick around the river brent bridge. This one time, some r00d boy of an asian playing your typical "bung-a-nung-a-dung-a-nung-bung-a-nung-a-dung-a-nung" banghra choons out of his BMW decided it was a good idea to try and burn me off the lights. So I let him... and he promptly got pulled over right where you did!

But on the flyover section heading towards west hendon, there is NO way that bit of road should be a 30!

Anyway, you should have hi 5'd him as you went past and jumped the lights! Catching THAT on camera would be proper awesome! Like you said, you've got a small plate, so they wouldn't have picked you up on it!

Well spotted on location, Tot Wink nice! I love flicking it round left off the roundabout, then right again round the bend before ripping it open!

I've seen the cops there a few times too but view up ahead was a bit obstructed by the lorry! Lesson learnt Smile

He did ask me if I knew it was a 30, i wont say what speed he caught me at on the camera.

Pretty sure there's some car cameras out there like that.
Memory isn't a big issue these days - £60 got me a decent 32gb SD card which would last you an absolute age - 1or 2gb should be fine for most purposes. Just need to have something that records in a loop.

Seeing the rev counter as you're overtaking (and going by the first pic where you can see rev counter and speedo) you must have been doing over 30mph (even in 1st). Wink
