So those of us with bikes are probably monitoring the weather more closely this time of year... and those of us waiting for our Mod2's to arrive are praying the weather holds off for test day...

Winter is a coming:

Hmm yeah. Accoring to that it should have been snowing in my town at 9am. The suns out and there's bright blue sky.

Lick your finger and stick it in the air. It's more accurate than the useless cocks at the met office and their £millions of equipment.

On the MSN news it says that its going to be cold this week, but its going to be milder after that because of La Nina. As I recall they said that last winter...

Still, I'm ever hopeful it won't snow. My car won't handle it very well being rear wheel drive with summer run flat tyres...

I prefer the MetCheck website: https://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/HOME/

Says it is going to snow down here at the beginning of next week.

To be fair, this week it will be a circa 105kg KTM300 with dirt tyres that should have 200 ice studs each in Smile.

My best chance of traction in powdery snow is the tyres I used for Weston, but from my experience there, I know they'll get mullered as soon as there's a bit of hard stuff Sad.

Oh and my car did ok in the snow last year; not run flat, but does have summer 'performance' tyres known to be cack in adverse weather.
A bit lower pressure on the tyres, easy on the right foot and choose your line carefully/keep your momentum up at the bottom of hills.

Your car has a limited slip diff. My car has traction control...

I've generally gone around 18psi; would go lower if I knew it'd be ok, but not too up on car stuff.

I managed this with a fully loaded van (minus one bike and one person, but other wise van was rammed) - the van that had tried to get out before me got about two metres in the field below this one, while I got out of that and half way up this hill.

When the farmer came to help, he said he wouldn't have tried it in his 4x4 because he wouldn't have had a chance either.

You don't quite get the impression of just how steep the hill is - though the fatter van tyres designed to be run at high PSI no doubt did help.

I don't want snow, but it is here. So I might aswell enjoy it Thumbs Up

Pillion helps with getting weight over the rear wheel and helps with grip, also they can push you out if the worst happens Wink

It's not just about how many, it's about how big they are Razz.

Bet yours wouldn't last long with 40-50hp running through them Razz.

Two inches Shocked Shocked

T'was over the top of my wellies when I went down the garden to fetch more firewood this afternoon, and the exhaust of my Subaru left a nice deep groove in the drive when I got home. Main difference is yours'll be gone a day or two, our stuff is likely to be here until mid-April now.
