I'm hoping this won't be a repost, I did search a few of the terms and it came up with nothing!

Anyways:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BT2JjzHa-c

"At the Texas Mile, October 2010, Bill Warner of Wild Bros Racing goes 278.6 mph in a standing start mile, on a 650rwhp turbo charged Suzuki Hayabusa Streetbike. On board video taken facing rearward using an AiM Sports SmartyCam with in-video display of GPS speed. (sample rate of the in camera GPS does not allow recording of the top speed that was set in the timing traps)"

Got some balls I'll give him that.

Almost seems unreal. Still pulling 1/2 a G acceleration at 280mph.

Acceleration is one thing, but it takes fucking huge balls to brake like that from nearly 300mph! He enters the gravel at over 50mph! I can't do gravel at 5mph let alone 10 times that!

Good stuff!

More likely to spin up than wheelie with a stretched swingarm, and it does in first gear at the beginning.

I want it!

Some pretty hefty streamlining there.

I was disappointed with that, I was hoping to see a standard looking 'busa to make it even more awesome Laughing

I'm surprised with the amount of stock parts used. I would have thought the brakes would be upgrades in order to stop from over 200 nearly 300mph Shocked

Bottoms ends on Hayabusas are massively reliable from my understanding, and can take big power as that demonstrates.

On the brakes he doesn't have to stop in a given distance like on track for example, therefore if bigger brakes would just create more drag/weight so may as well leave them stock.

Fuck, imagine how awesome riding that would be. Looks like it had a lot more go in it though, they need to do a top speed run.

Hi

At those speeds you need a hell of a lot of power to go faster, or only marginally better aerodynamics.

Few years ago a Dutch guy managed 265.4mph at Elvington (about 1.5 miles). He landed up needing the grass at the end of the runway to finish stopping. The following year he had some large ISR 6 pot calipers.

All the best

Keith

No, that was in the 20's.

Ack Attack and the BUB streamliner are currently trading the land speed record:
