Hello Very Happy i have a 2003 yamaha jog r (air-cooled) and it would start fine and pull off fine but i would get to about 20 or so then it would bog and die if i kept the throttle open, then let it off for a few seconds then it would go again and wont go past about 25 but if im going down hill it will do it then i (let of the throttle) then wack it back and it would go top end and be alright, but its just up hills and on the straights, sort of feels like no power atall Confused so i took off my carb (full of petrol then gave it a little clean then put it back on now it wont start. help anyone??

Well, original poor running may have been carb-fault, but could also have been igntion. On a twostroke, (probably all spark ignition engines actually, but 2T's more so!) is the spark plug.

However. 'cleaned carburettor' doesn't tell us much.
and from 'poorly' to 'dead' by removal and refit, suggests you've done something wrong.

So its a case of retracing your steps and finding out what.

Might be something as simply as putting teh carb slide in backwards, or coupling up the fuel hose, but forgetting to switch petrol on.

Could be as dire as having split the carburettor inlet rubber while muggering around.

Inside carb, depends what you touched when cleaning.

You need to go over it all, check it over, and get it right, then start over, with teh colour of the spark-plug.

I do have images though, of people not quite understanding what we mean by 'Clean the carb', and taking it off, getting out the Pledge and a cotton bud and cleaning all the crevices of the castings, and then putting it back, without ever having looked inside!

What did you do to clean the carb?

How did you stop the fuel flowing from the tank when you took the carb off?
