Removable Mirrors?

I'm looking at moving to a house next year where the only sensible place to park the bike is in the back garden, accessible only by a wooden gate. The aperature is about 72cm. My handlebars are 70cm wide, but my mirrors stick out to 90cm, so it can't go through. I'm not happy to ride without mirrors, and nor am i happy going through the faff of having to twist them both off/on all the time, positioning them correctly so i can see, as well as messing with the security and gear i use. As my primary transport it's too inconvient.

So, as i'm probably not the first person in this situation, is there something i can buy/acquire to allow the mirrors to be easily removed and put back on in the correct position? Or some other novel solution (apart from knocking down the solidly built thick wall to widen the gate, as it's a rented house).

Can you not shimmy through the door?

I have to do 'shimmies' to get my bike on the public road Laughing

I don't think ~18cm of "shimmy" is going to be possible. Obviously i'll give it a go, but i'm trying to be realistic here Wink

Surely it is easier to just fold them in that remove them each time.

Although i'd still have to loosen them off with a spanner every time though Sad

Not really. Not sure on what style of mirrors these are but most you can set them at a tightness which keeps them sturdy fut also moveable.

The ones i have (standard chrome round ones) theres a little metal bit at the bottom, that screws in, them the actual mirror stalk it gripped in place with two screws either side.. so you can spin it round with a bit of force.. but it doesnt unscrew..

You can get folding mirrors - I use one on my offroader.

Well, whatever 18cm is, I am sure you could do it.

I don't use mirrors unless i am doing a test, and even then I have to shimmy to get out of two doorways. My levers are painted black, and were perfect before I got the bike. Now the knobs are silver Laughing
