You can keep your Pringles, your beef jerky your Twiglets, Porks scratchings are the fucking daddy of booze related snacks!

Twiglets are so gross this was actually worthy of a counter thread.

None of those puffy ones either. They've got to be proper tough pigskin ones that almost break your teeth. You can tell the authentic Black Country ones easily, they still have hair on them.

They are good for a while.

Ever had those ones that are puffed up, look like pork scratchings but inflated. You can't eat a bag of them without a drink otherwise your mouth just dries up to a prune.

This is a good point. I voted for nuts in the poll, but scratchings are the clear winner in reality.

My local snooker club place sells really wank pork scratchings, the best ones are always found at remote pubs, either that or one time at a rugby festival they had a spit road thingy and they were selling fresh scratchings.

Seriously my tongue had an orgasm and ejaculated on my teeth.

I'm with Marki on this one - Black Country scratchings are the dogs danglies Thumbs Up I won't even consider the puffed up manufactured scratchings.

I was even tempted to buy a roll of pork rind from the local butchers the other day, but I'm the only one that eats it, so would have been too much for me on my own.... Does anyone know if it's possible to freeze them?? ....oh, I guess I just freeze the raw pork roll and just cook enough for myself Embarassed

I couldn't get any scratchings from any of the butchers near me so I had a go at making them. Cut the rind up into strips, rub olive oil and salt into the bits and then just bake on a high heat until they look right. They were delish.

Used to work with a guy, who when I told him I'd been on a holiday to the West Indies, asked me two questions...,,,"Whos beer was it ?", and "Could you get Pork Scratchings ?", plainly a man of culture and good taste !. Rolling Eyes

Apart from the large salt content they are pretty healthy aswell as delicious.

Mono and poly unsaturate fats and protein, because your basically eating collagen.

The best pork scratchings are home made. Deep fat fry the slab of fat, remove, cut up into chunks, place in a bag with salt and pepper, shake. Done. Drooling

I rarely have them now though.

I tend to avoid pork scratchings now. Don't get me wrong, I love them, it's just I've lost too many teeth to them now...

My dad made pork scratchings when I was younger (he was a butcher). They made the ones in pubs seem like the syphilitic scrapings from mummified pigs with eczema.

Still, tasty with a pint though.

I adore them, infact when I worked at a chemical place there was a pub opposite.

Every day after work I had a pint and 2 bags of pork scratchings. I put on a stone in 2 months Shocked

good site about the history of the pork scratching here https://www.freshersfoods.co.uk/content.asp?cat=1&id_content=2
