New earphones...

For anyone who is interested

Remembered reading about people wanting comfortable earphones that dont fall out under helmets...

Well i just recieved delivery of a set of Q-Jays from Jays (swedish company) and they are positively minute (supposedly smallest on the market)! Wonderfully comfortable with 8 different sets of silicon buds in different sizes and a pair of memory foam type buds.

They have dual armature drivers in each ear and the sound is amazing (been hearing parts of songs i never new existed)

They arent cheap mind! RRP of around £140 but i managed to get a set for £80 from mymemory.

Haven't tried them under the lid yet but will test them on the way home and let you know how they cope but from initial feel they should have no problem

So if anyone is after a mid-top of the range set of earphones consider these

They have been out a couple of years now so getting them under £100 shouldnt be a problem i wouldnt think.

I started purely looking for ones that would fit under the helmet so hopefully they should live up to their size

They also won various awards from magazines and websites and such

Well they are f&%king awesome!

Amazingly balanced and very precise playing 320Kbps and lossless music you can even hear more things with 128kbps, Ive heard parts to songs i didnt know existed!

As for the fit...

With the foam tips on and pushed deep into your ear when the foam expands they are held in like an anchor... they stayed in fully putting my helmet on and taking it off after a 45 min ride and when they are in your ears they are so light you hardly notice!

If you're a bass freak however, you may not be fully satisfied. Although there is a seperate low frequency driver these earphones produce detailed, clear, well balanced and powerful audio rather than in your face booming bass.

As for sound isolation, 10/10. With the foam tips the music was still very clear with only some of the low frequencies hampered when at speeds of 80-90mph and only at 2/3 volume!

I recently 'acquired' a set of Monster Turbine Pro Golds.

They won't be fitting under a lid any time soon due to their immense size but my god they sound good

They come with 3 different rubber bits that can be swapped over when the other ones get clogged with wax !!!

I spend an average of £120 per year on earphones cos i use them everyday in all conditions and they just die, usually get about a month from a set.

Most recent ones are £25 HMV set i got for £15 with 3year with swappage warranty (xtra £5) that im about to replace since 1 is falling apart.

Im looking at a set of skull candi or senheissers(sp) but unsure. Brother has the former and they have brilliant bass output just got to decide which to invest in.

Well i can say that the build quality of the jays earphones are renowned for being exellent and the q-jays are small and solid so should last if treated right!

Selling ear phones day in day out i really do not see the appeal for the Skull Candy ones apart from image. They sound so shit

I used to have Senhiieieieieieiesseses CX300's and used them for around 3 years. They still work, only reason i stopped using them is the wife lost the ear buds.

I tried the CX300's but couldnt get them to stay in under helmet and they started to hurt too

I use my cx300's day in day out, good quality for the money, paid £15 for mine I think.

I've got a set of JVC earphones from Comet for 20 quid. Fit better than my earplugs.
