Bought it for £1,200 with 18,500 miles, 12 months MOT and a few months TAX.
It was standard apart from having stainless steel braided hoses, crash bungs, Oxford heated grips, Mini indicators, and a Scott Oiler.

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/boughtbike.jpg

After a week or so I gave it a clean and polished the downpipes etc...

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/IMGP0302.jpg

Since then i've done the following:

Puig Screen
Beowulf end can
Custom seat
Removed some stickers
Re-wired the heated grips to the ignition live as it was killing my battery
Cleaned it on a weekly basis
Removed rear reflector
Installed a 12v cigarette lighter (to charge iphone)
Re-painted side panels in Matt Black and have changed the bolts that hold it in place with some black ones
Took the small number plate off and have out a full sized legal one on
Replaced air filter, oil filter, and oil

It is going in for the major service in a few weeks so it should feel even better when I get it back.

I have some Aprilia Shiver mirrors coming at christmas.

Anyway, enough talking, here are some pics I took yesterday (excuse the downpipes, they are now shiny again after I took the pics!)

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/IMG_0055.jpg

Not sure if I like the seat (at the back), it looks good from most angles and is the comfiest seat i've ever sat on, just looks a little bulky from the rear.

It is a 2000 model but unfortunately comes with a 16" front wheel ,gutted!

Hey, nice bike!

I believe you can get the 17" wheel if you wanted? Although not 100% sure?

Have fun and take care Wink

Looks much better after the mods. Is the fancy seat to stop the missus complaining?

Lovely, got a Blue one myself. Are you a member of the owner's forum? If not then take a look:

https://www.hondahornet.org.uk/messageboard/

I'm very happy with mine. Survived very well after an unfortunate bike/hedge interface problem. I'm doing my first trackday on mine on Tuesday. A little nervous Laughing

3rd pic from bottom, the wheel doesn't seem to line up with the bike

Thanks for the good comments Very Happy

I bought the seat because the old one was torn and faded, I am buying some new material to re-cover the old seat, then I will sell this custom one as I don't like the back.

Yes, im on the Hornets Nest with the same username.

Not sure about the wheel being out of line, maybe it was the angle i took the pic?

The 2000 model is supposed to have a 17" front wheel but apparently Honda had some 16" left over and mine may have been one of the unlucky ones that got one, ballache when buying new tyres Shocked

Dance!

Jammy bugger! It's the 2000 model, they never made a black one in '99 (according to the Hornets Nets), plus it has the red heel plates and other coloured parts...

Might have damaged the front wheel and replaced it with an older one then. Bike looks good, although that pillion seat is HUGE Laughing Can a pillion even get their hands under the grab rail?

Looks really nice. Am considering one as my first big bike, by looks of things a damn good price as well. If you don't mind me asking where did you find it? Piston heads, eBay or just local ads?

I never seem to have much luck with finding deals Crying or Very sad

May have been damaged, heard of some other people having 16" fronts too on the 2000 model (and even read a review in a magazine that the 16" front handled better when tested on a track) Confused

Yes, pillions can still get their hands in, buying some new material to re-cover my old seat so this will be going soon Laughing

Saw it advertised on MCN, it didn't sell and the advert expired, I then enquired (after a Bandit sale fell through) and he lowered it a bit.

3 previous owners too which aint bad for a 10 year old bike!

That seems pretty damn cheap, bargain me thinks.

I'm seriously tempted by another hornet and making a project of it to make it look like the last one.

The newest (to me) I bought for £475. Razz

It also has a nice Koso Dash and it has 4 pot nissins and bigger discs rather than 2 pot sliding jobbies Razz

Haven't updated this in a while, quite a few changes!

Custom seat has gone, re-upholstered my original seat with some material off eBay for £10, looks brand new again! (took 4 hours to do!)

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/IMG_0087.jpg

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/IMG_0117.jpg

Installed clear LED tail light with integrated indicators, removed a lot of the plastic from the number plate holder (still got some more to hack off!)

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/IMG_0117.jpg

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/IMG_0118edit.jpg

Fit some LED clear front indicators & LED relay. Also repainted the bottom yoke with Hammerite smooth silver as it was all rusted...

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/IMG_0131.jpg

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/IMG_0130.jpg

Fitted red 10mm rim tape...

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/IMG_0168.jpg

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/IMG_0169.jpg

Had the yop yoke and grab rail powder coated in Satin Black (not bad for £10 including blasting!), replaced these two shear bolts from the ignition (which was attached to top yoke), was a real pain to get off! I had to dremel a slit and chisel them out.

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/IMG_0178.jpg

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/IMG_0179.jpg

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/SDC12870.jpg

I then painted the clock surrounds in Satin Black and fit some Aprilia mirrors...

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/SDC12879.jpg

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/SDC12886.jpg

How it looks now from the side...

https://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac107/alan0259/hornet/SDC12894.jpg

Thinking of putting red honda wings on the tank to make it look like this...
