There are sportier bikes out there and bikes that are better for touring.

ST is the same but has more protection. Daytona/955i etc is a lot more sports orientated.

If the RS is just like the ST (only major visual difference is swing-arm and fairing) then it's a big wallowy bus with a relatively agricultural engine. Ok bike, but better for similar money out there.

Many of the softer sports bikes and sportier sports tourers of that age absolutely tanked in value, I guess because of the sports bike craze at the time, T595/955i's, Falco/Futuras and ZX9s spring straight to mind. I imagine the Sprint RS suffered more than most because they are so bloody ugly especially in the comedy yellow.

However! Whilst I've not owned one, I've bikeswapped with my workmates a bunch of times and the handling is rock solid stable, you set the lean you want and it just sits at that angle till you tell it to do something else. Ergos wise it's pretty upright, quite a bit moreso than my ZX9.

Would I buy one? In my situation, no, I'd rather have a Falco or another Futura, but a big part of that is down to always having a backup bike for when the italian has a paddy in the morning. As a sole bike the Sprint RS would be the safer choice imo.

They are good bikes, quick, reliable and built like something hewn from a solid lump of steel.

Downside is they are heavier than a heavy thing thats splurged on cream cakes and really let itself go.

But they are great bikes still. I suspect they are cheap because ZX9R's are cheap, and ZX9Rs are lighter and more powerful... ergo the Sprint has to be cheaper.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
