Well, I'm just at the end of a 12 hour night shift, and looking out of the window, I either have to ride home in the snow Shocked ... or look like a dork, wearing leather & textiles riding home on the bus?? Embarassed

How's the weather elsewhere??

Sunny and bright out here today and no sign of snow.

Bikes dont go out in the snow.

It's about having the right tool for the job. I've got a hack to get me around in the snow that I don't mind crashing because it cost far less than a lot of people's shiny new exhausts.

Some of the worst ice I've seen in many years this morning (when there hasn't been snow). After yesterday's rain there was large swathes of road like a skating rink in places. I was glad to have a featherweight bike with drum brakes, and not for the first time this winter.

Too late - I managed to get within about 1km of the house, but managed to drop it twice, then had to lock it up and abandon it at the side of the road.
Yes I should have left the bike at work... but at least being a naked bike, the only damamge was to my own pride, and a slightly scuffed bar end

When I was getting the bus to work for a week, I wore my textile trousers. I couldn't give a crap if I looked like a div, at least I was warm.

I'm just home from riding 7 miles in thick snowy back roads. First time on the RXS and to be honest it was fricken INCREDIBLE! I found the bike is so well balances. it seems to just glide over the snow.

Its made me chuffed as there seem to be no holding these bikes back.

Well, it's taken until today for the roads to have improved enough for me to get the bike dug out.
Took about an hour to dig a clear path from the bike to the roadside, then about another hour to get the ignition and two locks de-iced.

I still won't be able to get the bike back to the house, so I'll be taking it in to work, to park it in the pool car garage.

I can't believe it;s taken so long...

AS above been out on both the strom and the drz without any major problems. if your really worried a bit of cheap thin rope round the wheel rims and over the tyre will give you a little more grip. i used some on the strom for a 30 mile stint was great in the snow and clear roads but a little sketchy on the ice.

Just keep off the front brake completely don't even have your fingers on the lever. only use the back brake and don't go to fast.
