No really, is that even feasible?

I decided to bunk off work this morning, cos I would only have been going home by midday anyway.

So I was sitting here thinking up excuses to phone into work with, and I remembered that last week I noticed as the snow was melting off my car, it was forming icicles, and I wondered if it dripped for just long enough, whether it might ice the car into place where it was parked.

Then I wondered if that might be able to happen for the bike.

I'm convinced it would make an excellent excuse for bunking off work "Aw no, me bike tyres are iced to the ground".

Laughing

But ...

... when I mentioned it to Anita, she laughed very LOLishly and suggested I try the old "my clutch cable (which really only snapped last week) has snapped" routine.

So I used that excuse instead Mr. Green Thumbs Up

But what do ya reckon about the tyres?
Could it be possible for that to happen, do ya reckon.

You know how bimbo-ish I am when it comes to technical things.

Possible, but unlikely, and very easy to get around by breaking the ice.

Better to say you're ill than you can't make it IMO, otherwise they could nab you for working at home.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Thinking Hmmm, yes, I can see how that would be a laughable excuse now ...

It probably is possible, maybe in Siberia with the temps down to minus 50 or something insane. But I think you'd then have a problem even getting the engine started, so you'd have a different (and better) excuse for not going to work Laughing

Hasn't happened to me yet and it was -30 yesterday. Didn't happen a few years ago at -45 either, so you'd be lucky to get away with it!

Well I couldn't get my key in to the bike, because the lock was frozen and that's inside my garage!

Luckily I have a hair dryer in the garage (I know that might sound strange, but I dry the dog before bringing him in to the house, after a wet walkies).

So today I had a legitimate use for a hair dryer on a motorcycle.

God no, I'd have to dig my way to the shed first! Damn heating has decided to throw a wobbly so only +12 indoors today, even with log fires burning. Bikes laid up until April at the earliest.

Come summer the days are long and the roads empty, makes up for it.

That's your excuse, and you're sticking to it, eh.
I don't even own a hairdryer, LOL (although there *might* be one that Anita left behind, not sure where ... )

I dunno why but I decided that a little squirt of WD40 into the lock might help stop it from freezing up, dunno if it did, but I left the bike in the snow with just a binliner wrapped round the ignition from Friday until Wednesday, and the key went in first time, started up after a bit of a coughing fit, on the third go.

Magic Cool Thumbs Up

-55C will do it, though. They had that a few years ago in Lapland, even the natives didn't go out. My parents were a bit worried about the cold, as they were due to go there for a holiday, but a week later it was only -30C, which was much more pleasant.
