Right, I'm currently riding to and from college in whatever i want, usually some Vans Hi Tops. I know if i come off its my ankles/feet on the line, but I can't walk around in Boots all day, its far too uncomfortable, and I can't do the stairs etc, tried it for about a week, just didn't work!

So basically, I'm thinking of getting some more riding orientated footwear, Sidi do those Streetburners or whatever they call them, which are fugly and OTT, saw these Alpinestars Shibuya's, and they look pretty damn nice actually, supposed to have steel toe/heel. I know they won't be anywhere near as good as proper boots (I do wear them when going out for rides) but I'm thinking they must at least be better than what I'm wearing currently, and FAR more waterproof.

Anyone got a pair? Or something similar for me to look at? Anything around £100 really.

£130 is probably stretching it a bit.

Also sucks as im a 45/46 and the biggest Honda Bournemouth have available are 44.... :/

https://www.hondaofbournemouth.co.uk/results.aspx/208/4365/Alpinestars_Ridge_Waterproof_Boots

Could try them on i guess and then order them from GetGeared, bit cheaper there too.

I'm sure the right answer is "man up".

Yeah, i tried that, but i find you also look like a twat, and my boots click and squeak like a mother.

Plus I would quite like some new shoes... Embarassed

Get yourself some lace up boots. I basically have two sets of boots for riding...and I wear either pair depending on the end scenario. If I am going to a rally where I will be walking/staggering around for 2 days and/or dancing in the marquee and/or around the bonfire - then I wear my RockWood boots.

If I'm riding and the most I'm going to do is walk to the cafe to grab a coffee, I will likely wear my biker boots.

Job done. Thumbs Up

I'm not sure if Lace Up Boots will be the most suited thing for walking around town/college. Seem a little heavy duty.

I'm a man, but then I'm also a teenager, and try as i might, i can't escape fashion. Tbh theres one person who wears lace up boots and he looks like a right twat. Boots just aren't me, hate the look, prefer clean minimalistic lines....

I only wondered if anyone wore these style of shoe, not to be told to wear proper boots/lace up boots

Ride in wearing boots with trainers in rucksack, leave boots in locker/in an office during day, wear trainers during day. Swap for ride home.

Touring boots from Lidl.

https://rtboxer.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/rtboxer-lidl-boots1.jpg

£30, comfiest shoes I've ever worn, of any kind. I wore them 7 days a week for 2 years, the sole detatched, then a £5 tube of Shoe Goo got them as good as new, and waterproof again.

I'm sure a £100 pair would make your bike go faster though. Thumbs Up

No, but i know for a fact they are alot safer if you have an off.
So well done for advising some-one to buy the less safer, yet cheaper option.

Wut?

Sounds like your boots just need wearing in. I could walk for ever in my old boots. They were like slippers Laughing

Is what i have at the moment, so no, I'm not interesting in the Lidl specials. They're fine for riding, but the ankles are quite tight, and I can only really move my ankle enough to get on/off bike.

Under jeans, they wouldn't even look that bad. Go for a hike in them, they'll soon loosen up.

Well tbh, I'm in the market for a new pair of shoes anyway, I'll be wearing them on the bike commuting, thought i may aswell get some more bike orientated shoes.

Do what I do; sneakers in bag, boots on feet and put boots in an office along with leather jacket, bag and lid.

Great, I'd love to read the test results of your boots versus the specific ones that I mentioned. Where can I find that? Question

So your £100 boots are in the same condition as my £35 (total) ones? It's a Christmas miracle! https://media.bigoo.ws/content/christmas/gif_santa_claus/santa_claus_23.gif

I've done quite a bit of walking (and some climbing!) in my motocross boots and found them ok when you get used to it (hated trying to walk in them when I first got some.)
If you want comfort, I'd go for some Hi-tech magnums. Reasonable amount of leather, so I've never had a problem when crashing them as far as sliding down the road goes.
They are made for soldiers, security people etc to run about in with some comfort; so should be fine for your needs.

I do a fair bit of walking in my boots and generally can't be bothered carrying an additional pair of trainers around all the time, so always try to look for something protective and waterproof, but also comfortable, easy to get on/off, and fairly lightweight. Style wise, I just wanted something fairly understated. These fit the bill perfectly for me and I managed to pick up a pair at the NEC for £90:

https://www.cardy.fr/images/produits/81707.jpg

They also do a shoe version of the same boots, which may fit the bill for you even better:

https://www.motoblouz.com/images/catalogue/pres/pres_Bottes-Route-moto-Furygan-LUCA-Noir.jpg

Though they're not waterproof and don't offer ankle protection.
