No idea what forum to post in, so I'll stick it in RB.

Today at robert dyas I got two 1.0L Sigg water bottles for 4 quid. They were all two for a fiver, and a few bottles were "reduced to £2".

Needless to say I got the £2 ones....

Exact same bottle is £18 on Sigg website and around the £13 on ebay. Score!!

Obviously being the real deal the threads and gaskets are all top notch, unlike plenty of the cheap knock-off stuff which is leaky with easy-strip threads.

I have never seen the point of Sigg water bottles.

What makes them superior to, say, a standard ALICE plastic canteen (£2.30)?

My favourite water carrier is the 58 Pattern...

The narrow mouth of the sigg is a bit annoying really, but for two quid its a strong bottle that I'm confident will not leak.

Some people say that ally bottles keep water cooler, haven't noticed the difference personally.

Can't see how an aluminium bottle will keep liquid cool better than plastic unless the weather is colder than your drink, it's a great conductor.

Personally used to reuse water bottles (free) and now use a hydration bladder, the taste is the only downside, the antimicrobial stuff in the plastic no doubt gives it this hint of TCP, still if i'm thirsty it doesn't make an ounce of difference to me.

If it hasn't got paint over it then you can use to boil water and then use something (acting as an oven glove) to pick it up. My brother got me one of these for my birthday:

clicky

It is pretty good, however it is a bit too big and I have managed to split the plastic on the lid from over tightening. Pretty sure it shouldn't do this so going to take it back tomorrow to the shop my brother got it from.
