Does anyone on here use either of these for road riding? I was thinking it will help me to stop sliding into the tank and make riding a little more comfortable because of the extra support. A little expensive so are they worth it?

I know that wasn't your thread, but some of the threads over there pop up over here and sometimes the topics you make come twice LOL.

Of course it's good to get advice from two set of biker forums Smile

I'm told by people who have used them 'in anger' that StompGrips only work if you're wearing leathers, and if you try to ride with them in jeans they can cause you a bit of pain.

G has them on his race bike, and I did find it useful to grip the skinny 675 tank but I was wearing leathers when I rode it.

Find they do help a bit on the very narrow 675.

Apparently they can mash up jeans a bit.

I had stompgrips on my SP1 and whilst yes, they worked best with leathers, I can't say I ever noticed any problems with jeans, mind you my riding pairs are on the heavy side which may or may not be a factor.

Back on topic, it depends on the bike, the SP1 needed them, whereas the ZX9 doesn't.

Confused, wrong thread?

And no - sold most of one in bits for less than that and a decent low mileage one for more than that. Got one left and it's definitely going for over that if I sell Smile.

Big bikes may not get that much worse often.

Generally, I'd still pay the extra for the more comfortable commuting - c90 when compared to the GSXR1000 can get a bit frustrating.

Anyway, spent a reasonable bit on the last C90 which has telescopic forks too, so wanting more than that if I do sell.

How many bikes do you have?

Yes I am at a point where I don't care about how fast, or how I look now, and comfort and better MPG is something I am thinking of. However I don't really have a huge budget because I am not certain what I will be doing within the next few months.

Thanks anyway and I understand that my offer wasn't a huge amount :p any recommendations on any commuter that is cheap, has good MPG? I can he any size engine. I have been on ebay but don't know a lot of names and bikes to check out.

Cg125? Or one of those Russian bikes like I was trying to find Laughing

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just use the zx6 because of all the extra insurance you'll have to pay

Have a look in my profile for the bikes I've got - maybe 14 now? Still a way off Keith. (There is an SV650 sitting in the van too and my mum's GS500, but they don't count Smile.)

I'd be tempted by a GPZ500 and a gentle right hand, or maybe a CB250.
If you really want to limit yourself, most 4 stroke 125s aren't too bad - the cub 90 is ok, but takes a while to get to 40mph and won't do that much over that, which is frustrating when not on 30mph roads.

Me too. Love the things. They are one of the first things I would buy for any sports bike now. Haven't had any pain when wearing jeans either.

I didn't buy stomp grips though, I bought a sheet of the same material and cut them to shape Thumbs Up Much cheaper. I think motrax do the sheets in A4 size

Yep I have seen Motrax do them. Looks Ok but I did wonder wha if you cut it wonky?

Been looking at Gpz 500, some seem to have low bids so I'll see what they go for Smile

Thanks.

I've got the ZX6R B1H stompgrips on my bike! Alex next door to southerncross (Technomoto) has them in stock mostly. The B1H pads were the ones that resembled my tank cutouts best.

I notice their use when riding with a pillion since i can brace with my knees better under braking.

They were a godsend on the ZX6R and I've never had a problem with riding in jeans with them on.

Dead useful on long sunday blasts where you hang off a lot (in my case, it's more riding in a twisted position!). But for pillions under braking, it put a lot less pressure on my forearms to do the bracing.

Might see how much I can get them for at work. I suppose if they don't work all I have to do is take them off Laughing

Also Titz while you're here which Tutoro is worth going for the twin or single feed?

I had some TechSpecs for my 675 also, and liked them. I found no problems with using them with jeans or trousers, and didn't cause any noticeable wear on my leathers, but did definately stop me from attempting to castrate myself so frequently!

I've never used stomp grips on a bike, but they look more grippy, and more likely to damage leathers, but can't speak from experience. The TechSpecs seemed to have a good amount of grip, but not enough that I couldn't move.

Whoring time -
