Hello, basically I just bought a old Yamaha FSE1 'fizzy' online, but the seller is well recommended dealer in classics so I dont think the bike is stolen.
Its in a bad condition not currently running so I doubt it is stolen yet again.
He doesnt have the V5 and reg plates are missing, but it has both frame and engine numbers (matching).
I want to find out the reg number so I can check its not stolen etc, and apply for a new V5 but I have no idea how.
Can I just ring the DVLA and ask them to help me, or will they just tell me its stolen?
Please Help.

you should be able to get a check done via hpi or similar

This can check the vin is for that type of bike https://www.autocalculator.org/Free-VIN-lookup.aspx

This says vehicle should be later than 1980

You could try taking details to police station and tell them you are buying it and want to make sure it is not stolen, might get some luck but usually only interested if they can nick you for something.

Go to a local DVLA office https://www.dft.gov.uk/dvla/contactus/localoffices/findnear.aspx and they will point you in the right direction.

https://www.fs1eoc.co.uk/ or https://www.vjmc.com/ for any other questions.
